People eat out because?

Not for me except when I want fish and chips or fried chicken.

I like to go for the fun, the new things I might see and taste, the luxury of being waited on and no cleaning up, the company as I don't go alone and the surprise of meeting up with others I know.

It's the whole experience I enjoy.

Because we don’t feel like cooking.

Because we’re hankering for a specific food/special at one of the restaurants we routinely go to

Because we want a really good steak or filet

Because we haven't had sushi in a while.

Because we’re meeting friends.

Because we’re out anyway and we’re hungry.

I think that covers it 😂

Purely for the social experience, since I can more skillfully prepare better dishes than what we're served. Actually, for me, it's kind of like playing Russian Roulette, as I never trust that dishes I order out will not upset my inner workings. Were it not for Janet, I strongly doubt I'd ever dine at restaurants, again. I enjoy all aspects of meal preparation, including the aftermath of cleaning up.

Because I need a break from cooking and cleaning the kitchen, it also gets me out of the house, though we have been going out less with the recent health situation.

Because I'm retired and tired of cooking all of the time. I've been cooking for the last 46 years, almost every day. Everyone needs a break.
Yes, I have a deep fryer, too. Husband doesn't like eating out and prefers home cooking, since he had to eat every meal out when he worked on the road. If I have to get dressed to go out somewhere, I try to work in a restaurant meal, too. Even grocery shopping. He understands and doesn't mind. It's not often, but that's our compromise.

I never eat out anymore, for a number of reasons. I live on a very limited income, I enjoy trying out new recipes (new retirement hobby), after reading all sorts of articles about what goes on in restaurant kitchens I don't trust food workers anymore. Deep fryer? Everytime I deep fry something I get colon problems, it's not a healthy option and I hate to waste or re-use all that oil.
