People Sleeping in Cars

It was somewhat common in UK during WWII for people to drive out into a quiet countryside spot and sleep in their car to avoid being killed at home in the city or town in their bombed house!!

why - don't understand - different neck of the woods??
Increasing regulations by the government - especially for people to have a permanent address (not just a PO box) less places you can park your RV for free, new laws limiting how long you can rent a spot at RV parks, and I'm sure a lot more.

Housing here in the US and especially on the West Coast US, has been up in the unaffordable range for some time with no hint it will come down. A lot of people have been living in their RVs.

If you are asking why I do not wish to actually live in my car - I would think that is obvious. :)

Driving from Lake Tahoe to Chicago my sister, grand daughter and niece were tired.
Sister said, just pull into a rest stop and catch a nap, I'll wake you in 2 hrs and then sleep while you drive.
I was woken by sister whispering and squeezing my hand, "Look out the front of the car Sis, look but don't move"
It was a guy standing in front of our car, ummm pleasuring himself.
I reached over turned on the car and headlights and got out of there before the kids saw anything.
5 miles down the road sister says "Well hell sis, there's nothing out here, maybe that's what he does
on a Sat, night?"
I couldn't help it I busy out laughing, couldn't stop laughing. We never slept in a rest stop again.

well watching a few us movies over time - one gets the impression of some oldies moving around but doing in large homes on wheels with their own toilet facilities etc? but that 's just the movies heh?
