There have always been segments of our society that have rationalized they have a right to steal from the government or companies. Illogical notions like they are not paid enough or are being taken advantage of. Saw this first hand decades ago in the military where those military lifers in positions to requisition materials were doing so. And later at corporate work places, some people habitually stole small items they could have bought themselves like unused computer media. What happens is such personalities begin secretly stealing at some point in therr lives that then becomes part of the way they approach much of life, buying into the dog eat dog survival of the fittest attitude, do it if they think they won't get caught, thinking they are smarter than the rest of us for doing so. Reflects a lack of ethical and moral upbringing. Not just stealing but also cheating. Today large numbers in schools including universities cheat in a list of ways. Same people will be running our society unfortunately. Very different from the Caucasian suburban California worlds I grew up in.
More ominously, there are now numbers of those poor and parts of immigrant cultures, especially in ghetto urban regions that have not been successful here in our USA for whatever reason that turn to the criminal world to support their lives. Such personalities are much likely to do so if many of their peers have the same attitudes, much like why so many youth spew graffiti on our urban buildings because such is an easy choice without much moral anguish when so many others in their culture do so.
