Don't these people have anything better to worry about? Aren't there enough problems with animal abuse without this nonsense? Now, anybody who knows my husband and I know we spoil our dogs. A lot of pet owners I know refer to their pets as "fur babies." I wonder if that's demeaning, too? You know, cuz the pets are mature adults? According to PETA, if we call them "pets," that implies ownership, like you own a car. Well, in as much as I'm the one paying the vet bills, and buying the kibble, and letting them sleep in a nice soft bed, then, yeah, I'm the owner. Pretty sure my dogs don't care. They only know they get regular meals, sleep most of the day, and generally live a pretty good life. Demeaning? HA!

IMO Peta throws these things out there to keep up the discussion of how animals should be treated and it does seem to work.

Peta loses credibility when they speak nonsense like this. I am an animal lover and I'm completely in favor of stopping animal abuse and helping animals in need. I love my pets and do often refer to them as furkids or furbabies, depending on my mood. They are my family and share my home completely, that's what throw covers are for, so the furkids can hang out on the couch or chair with no problems.

My pets also are welcome to sleep in our bed with us at night, been that way for decades. They are my pets, I am their owner. I am responsible for their health care, their nourishment, and their safety. Lots of folks that talk like Peta is, are a bit looney, IMO.

I always thought PET was a term of endearment, I’ve known couples who called each other that. “Pet project “ for example, tho not “”pet peeve “, lol. I think PETA shoots itself in the foot with pronouncements like that. Over the years I’ve donated regularly to many animal welfare organizations, but not to PETA.

Well, we can't call them "animals", that could also be a derogatory term. "You animal!" So, PETA if you're right, you're right. So let's use the corect terminology. PETA is now, FTFTMETOALBOADB. Oh, for God's sakes, do I have to spell it out- Fleshy Things For The Moral Equivalent Treatment Of Associated Living Beings Of A Diverse Biosphere.
