I do know that your phone will track your where abouts and yes I can be turned off...
But I was looking for an address of a friend, I have been to his place only once, and pulled up the date in Google Maps on my phone.
But what I discovered was it also listed modes of travel... in looking It shows that I was riding a motorcycle... looked up other dates and It shows me in a boat during a Kayaking trip... WTH....

I have said it before: I don't own a "smartphone" and I am not going to buy one. My little "Alcatel" flip phone is there when I need it and I don't often need it. Yes, BIG Brother (the police, the government) is watching all of you. YOU BETTER BE GOOD OR ELSE!

I recently subscribed to a Virtual Private Network because I wanted to watch a series on Australian TV.

I have received an email from this VPN provider explaining how companies use software to decide on the prices to quote you for goods or services. They take into account your shopping habits, where you live and even the devices that you use to access the internet.

Does this apply to TracFone users too? I'm not signed in to Google or FB on my phone. Just texting and sending pictures.

I suspect that TracFone is Not immune, either. I have that service, and only have the phone on if away from the house.....probably only a few hours a month. This morning, I made a quick trip to the store, ahead of a coming storm, and my Tracfone went off with some bogus offer to buy something. I stopped for a minute, and found a way to block the sender. I don't know why someone would think I would purchase anything from my cell phone, but apparently just having a cell phone opens the door to all sorts of scams.

From watching True Crime stories, tracking cell phones is how many murderers were convicted. Tracking proves suspects were lying about where they've been when they try to establish alibis.
I've come to believe whatever invasion of privacy it means, it's worth it.

Agreed.

I don't care if the government, law enforcement, or even Google tracks me. It's hackers and stalkers I'm concerned about.

I've got the GPS turned off on my Iphone...

Tell us how you got all that info on yours.....I want to see if it'll come up on my phone...

open google maps app that came with my phone.
hit "Saved" botton
scroll down and hit "timeline"
From there you can open a calendar and pic a day.
Funny thing (not really) is that the history goes back longer than I had this phone...
You can shut it off BUT the GPS locator is tied to the 911 system... so its still recorded, and stored someplace

well when I click on 'saved' at the bottom, it opens up the 'your lists'' .. and probably because I have the GPS turned off..there's nothing tracked.. my whole timeline says .. ''private'' all the way down... or ''0 places...''...I'd take a pic to show you, but I can't take a pic of a pic of my phone lol...

I didnt' know such a thing existed. I want one, even if simply for the option of using it and I know my son would love ---hey! Gift idea! Thank you, @JustinCase, I had no idea about these things existed.
faraday cages are used in many places to block phone signals as well as it's main use as a protective shield against the electro magnetic radiation coming from the external environment.. or it prevents electro magnetic energy radiated from the external components from escaping the cage... one very good example of this is a Television studio...
