Phone tracks you... but WOW

I used to have a tracfone just for emergencies at first, then when it became outdated and they were encouraging me to get an updated version, I decided to get my first Android phone, which I still use, I think it's 4G.

I use a Simply Walking app to measure distance of my walks when desired, the good thing is it works out in remote areas with no cell service and it works using satellites. I really like this feature, it shows the path you take with real images of trees, bushes, buildings, etc. In the wilderness, it does not show detail but when you get back to town or home, it shows detail.

If I was planning to rob a bank or kill someone, I would leave my phone home. :p But I don't care much about the feature. If there was a horrible situation where I went for a hike and never returned, perhaps my husband and the authorities could track where I am and recover my body or save me from a psycho abuser.

I also use apps for a couple of local public radio stations, and they may need to know a general location, not sure about that. Anyhoo, I'm not paranoid, there are cameras and microphones everywhere, this isn't the '50s or '60s anymore, with the conveniences of technological progress comes some concessions.

If you're really into that stuff Stinky bought the "Garmin Forerunner 245 Music". She absolutely loves it. I don't even wear a watch anymore GOD forbid after 50 years of working I should care what time it is.

Thanks, but I'm not into that stuff at all. Basically a technophobe and have only used a few simple things that I thought would be nice to have. I do wear a watch when on a camping trip, I like to know what time it is, especially if I go off on my own. While at home, I don't wear a watch at all, while still working I wore one every day of work.

For everyone who wants to know how to turn on essential apps in your iOS ( Iphone) and more importantly turn off apps which are either tracking you or using massive amounts of battery.. or spamming you with ads... ( despite the title of the video you don't need to have the latest iphone15 , these settings work on older iphone models too, and just ignore those that are too modern for your particular model)

My phone was already set up the way I needed it, but even with these guys I found a couple of things that were potentially going to cause me to be tracked.. so I've got them turned off now..., and equally a couple turned on..

I just followed the video on my Mac, with my phone on my desk and watched the instructional video slowly by stopping the video at every instruction or rewinding to see it again.. to ensure I was doing it properly...

Start with the first Video..turning apps OFF...then follow with the 2nd Video showing which Apps you need turned ON...

It's going to save you a lot of battery power, as well as stop a lot of tracking by advertisers et al...

"Hello, Jack, I've been tracking you with my phone all morning, you've been driving around the Yorkshire Dales, but you haven't moved for the last half hour, where are you, mate?"

"Sitting on the loo at a roadside pub, you nosy bas***d!" 😊
