Oh you got your first chickadee. How sweet. Our first chickadee! We got two pictures of him, before and after husband filled the feeder this morning.
And one of Lady Cardinal looking forlornly at the empty feeder.

It’s probably thinking “Looked at all this food!”
There’s your pretty cardinal waiting patiently for a refill.

The sweet little chickadee. They are so tame that they will eat seeds right off your hand if you are patient enough to wait. Of course winter isn’t the time to test it out. B-b-b-r-r!

Thank you for showing us pictures from your birdie videos. It’s always a pleasure.
I know! I was happy when husband refilled the feeder and surprised to see her flashy mate. Is it me or is his color deepening?awwwww the look on her face...like awww there's no seed left
It could very well be that his colours are deepening. I think the female cardinals colours are deepening too. You are feeding them food with red pepper in it so it wouldn’t be surprising that it shows in the skin and feather. Pink flamingos get their pink colouring from the shrimp they eat. Maybe this is the same thing.I know! I was happy when husband refilled the feeder and surprised to see her flashy mate. Is it me or is his color deepening?
Oh, yes, I can see how that might happen! When my elder son was a baby, he didn't like green veggies and so ate a lot of carrots, sweet potatoes and squash, and turned a bit orange from the beta-carotene.It could very well be that his colours are deepening. Feeding your son ample foods with beta carotene in them is a perfect example of how food affects our colouration.Oh, yes, I can see how that might happen! I like to think of Lord and Lady Cardinal coming into bright colors because we're helping them along.![]()
