Pinot, Malbec, Zinfandel, or Cabernet?

Don't drink wine that often, but I like a nice Zinfandel or Beaujolais Nouveau

I still prefer beer actually but......that's where the calories are.

Of the reds ? Merlot is the tastiest IMO.

I never had much interest in wine.

Once or twice a year I'll have a Manhattan, I rarely finish them but they bring back many fond memories of days gone by. :):playful::eek:nthego:

My uncle drank one Manhattan when he came home from work. In my teens if I was over there, I would taste some and it was delicious!

Much later, and I don't recall how, but I began to enjoy a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned!

These are really old fashioned cocktails, but I always thought they were tasty.

Corona Light with a lime wedge, thanks.

that always works

as for wine;

Sauvignon Blanc if I’m having a light meal or sittin’ out of a late summer afternoon

Cabernet Sauvignon if I’m into a heavy meat dish

But

I prefer the unadulterated juice of the grape when dining
Straight from the vine....not the store

However

If it’s a late meal, I’m sipping something heavier

Like an upscale single malt

Or, if casual, a good IPA

Any sweet red works for me -- I usually buy from local wineries. If available I get Bully Hill Grower's Red.

But I like Margaritas or martinis in the summer, or gin & cranberry with a lemon slice -- a great drink I discovered last year.

After a long winter, it will be good to get back on my porch again with a cocktail!

DW and I have wine every night, but primarily whites. Riesling is our 'go to', along with non-oaky Chardonnay, Pinot Gris or Grigio. Ok. am I the only white winer???

<raises hand> Me! Me!

My favorite sipping wine is a good Zin or Moscato. But I also really appreciate the added dimension that a good wine choice can bring to different foods. For example, I don't think there's anything better than a full bodied red wine with spaghetti. Or a light, crisp and tart white with fish or seafood.

...........jeez, I sound like a fracking commercial!

Oh! There's a red blend wine that has recently become a favorite. Paired with steak it's to die for. It was sitting out on the counter when my daughter first saw it, and she raised her eyebrow speculatively. "Anything you want to tell me, Mom?" :badgirl:

When I lived in England, I used to visit the English vineyards and sample the produce before buying. The UK climate is not usually good enough for producing reds, but is good enough to produce award winning whites. Now that I live in Scotland, I don't buy much English wine although some vineyards supply it mail order.

In recent years I've become a fan of Portuguese red wines and keep several varieties at home.

I don't care for wine or any alcoholic drinks but if I do have some wine I like it red, sweet and cut with ginger ale. My sister in law says that is sinful.

You're not the only one. Wife can't tolerate dry wines and will put some kind of pop in it to sweeten it. It's only a sin if the wine costs more than $12.00.......:p
