Planning a wedding....mine!

Ron and I are getting married in October of this year....17 October 2020.

We have the venue, a lovely restored building in Dickson TN, an old country town about 40 minutes from downtown Nashville. Lots of exposed brick, wood columns, a fun storefront look, nothing traditional or churchy. It has a full bar and enough space to seat around 130 comfortably.

We want some space for a small dance floor (I'm a ballroom dancer and have dance friends who are coming, plus I have friends who love to freestyle, and I just want folks to have fun) but not band...my step son-in-law is a DJ and performer and music producer, and between him and his music friends there's a bunch of sound equipment that he'll utilize to give us lots of music and great sound.

The invitations aren't even started yet, but first things first.....I'm almost done designing our website and the Save The Dates. A lot of people on Ron's guest list are out of towners, and older, so we need to be sure to let them know well ahead of time if we have any hope of having them attend.

My daughter Paige (my only daughter) will be my Maid of Honor. No other attendants for me. Ron is having both his daughters be his Best Men, so they will walk Paige down the aisle between them. My oldest son is giving me away. Ron's two grandsons and my youngest grandson will share the ring bearer duties....one will pull the other two in a wagon who will be holding the ring bearer pillows.

4 of my granddaughters sing, and one of my boys is a singer/musician..plays guitar and keyboard, so I'm trying to work out having them sing/harmonize and him play and sing/harmonize when I walk down the aisle.

I'm going to have my youngest two granddaughters be the flower girls and my one of my teen granddaughter be my photographer...she's a very talented budding photographer and as I have no particular need to have professional photos done, I'm more than happy to let her loose with a camera, with some direction/mentoring from my son in law who is a very talented photographer and artist.

I don't want a traditional wedding dress. I'm not sure what I do want though. Still working on that. Ron is planning to wear a double breasted jacket, suspenders, cowboy boots (that's his signature look) and a fedora.

I'm DIYing the decorations, but they'll be simple. I'll wrap the wood columns in tulle and greenery and create simple centerpieces (Ive started saving my tins so I can spray paint them and put burlap ribbon around them before adding the flowers and baby's breath and greenery.) We have a gorgeous arch in the garden that we'll set up in front of the exposed brick, and I'll add some tulle and greenery to it.

We still have to decide on food, find an officiant, book the caterer, find someone to do hair and makeup for my Maid of Honor and The Best (Wo)Men, decide on flowers, book the wedding night suite, figure out honeymoon destination and a thousand other details.

I'm having fun!!!! Suggestions and opinions would be very welcome!!

Ronni it sounds like you have much to do but have it all under control. I wish you the best that life has to offer. I can't wait to hear how things are progressing during the coming months.
You picked the exact month and day when my Mom and Dad were married and if your marriage is as wonderful as theirs you will be very happy for the rest of your lives.

It sounds wonderful, Ronni!
Only one suggestion: make sure the wedding starting times listed on your wedding website and printed invitations match exactly.
We went to a lot of trouble to go to my nephew's destination wedding and almost missed the whole thing because the time of the wedding was listed 30 minutes later on the website than the time on the printed invitation, so we arrived just before the vows. It was still one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever been to.

sounds really nice ' what about this -------------

@toffee Thanks for these!! I love the hats. I don't want a traditional wedding dress or veil, so that's an intriguing idea!
Sounds like you are really enjoying yourself Ronni, I'm happy for you. Please keep us up to date on everything. I think you'll have a beautiful wedding! Where do you think you two will go for a honeymoon?
@Linda part of the reason I started this thread was to keep adding to it as the plans evolve. It'll be fun to have a sort of timeline of everything. We've talked a bit about a honeymoon, and other than both planning to take a full week off work, we haven't decided on a destination yet, though we've talked about Hawaii, a cruise, Jamaica. Ron is going to book the Honeymoon Suite in the Opryland hotel for our wedding night, which is one of the premier hotels in Nashville, and then we'll take off for our honeymoon next day.
I have a sneaking suspicion we'll get lot of those.... :sneaky: ...I love pictures...
You know me well @hollydolly ... you're gonna get drowned in pictures!!! :)
