Plastic surgery... When should enough be enough,

Years ago, I got to meet Debbie Reynolds. This was many decades after she made movies in the 50s. From about 20 feet away, she looked like a bubbly, cute Debbie Reynolds, but up close, she freaked me out. Her face was covered in little squares from previous surgeries. All I could think of was " Oh My God! You did that to yourself." Then there's Joan Rivers, 80 years old, looked 30, but with a perpetual smile. I think plastic surgery is helpful for deformities, yet it's useless for those with poor self images.

What I mean by that is, that in the past when it became obvious there was mental health issues such as defacing your body, professionals would step in... but now, this has all gone, and people with mental health issues are left to fend for themselves in the majority of cases, to the detriment of themselves, and other people.

I agree that a doctor worth anything should spot dysmorphic disorder in a patient and recommend psychiatric help, but those days are long past, I fear.

is there some part of my posts about this model that I've not made clear that she had one breast burst and is left with just one Mono Breast ? :unsure: just wondering if my posts are not showing up..

Sadly Joan didn't look 30.. she didn't look 80 either or whatever age she was, she looked about 10 years younger, and like someone had pinned her face to a board sideways , verticle and horizontal.. Sharon Osbourne has the same look.. and as for Pricilla Presley.. she just ruined a perfectly beautiful face..

The worst thing about this is that so many DOCTORS will do anything for money. It should be considered malpractice to perform excessive cosmetic surgery on a patient who clearly has mental issues. Michael Jackson's doctors should be ashamed for taking his money & disfiguring him, instead of recommending psychotherapy. The fact that it's not a crime is appalling.

A wicked thought, when I saw these impressive images I thought of someone looking for romance.
The before photos are much like most who have more than a few miles on the clock. However:

She looks like a lot of women after plastic surgery, the best of it anyway... I prefer wrinkles to that look, something not quite human about it.
 
Maybe it takes awhile for the face to 'settle in' after surgery? Maybe they shouldn't appear till it does. A man with an ill-fitting wig always makes me sad. I've seen them flopping in the wind.
 
The forehead is botox & the cheeks are filled with.......I don't know, fillers. Maybe it settles & the face becomes more normal after a time?

Yes, she has had surgery, but it certainly doesn't look as bad as what was in @hollydolly post #31.​
