Plastic surgery... When should enough be enough,

I understand the need some celebrities have to try and present themselves better, especially in Vegas. Most times, it works for a bit.
But why can't we accept the better parts instead of focusing on the worst? I have an idea why......insecurity of our own looks.

I wonder how much of that dangerous plastic surgery is done outside the U.S. or the U.K./Canada? It seems that doctors in those areas would refuse to perform what amounts to "mutilation".

I used to watch "Botched" on TV, where these two plastic surgeons in California would attempt to repair bad work that people had had done. It seemed that usually the initial work was done out of the country.

the current favourite place for many in the UK to have work done on their faces or their teeth, is Turkey. Simply because it's very much cheaper to have done there, but the disasters are oft reported..

It's got to be a Mental illness mutilating ones body ...

The world's most pierced woman revealed she has over 3,500 piercings inside her ****** and aims to get to 20,000 all over her body.

Elaine Davidson, who lives in Edinburgh, who is covered from head to toe in over 15,000 metallic piercings, joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O' Leary on This Morning today to discuss getting even more.

Despite the jewellery weighing three kilos, she admitted that she wants to reach 20,000 piercings to hold on to her world record title.

The Brazilian-born woman explained she also has 3,500 piercing inside her ****** but she has to go to America to get those done because they won't do them in the UK.

It seems to be that some of us crave attention and find our own ways to achieve that end.
For the woman with the piercings, maybe that's her method. For someone else, their
cosmetic surgeries gain them the attention they seek. Some people post thousands of
messages on sites like these and to be honest, the bit of attention I receive is gratifying
at times but especially so when it's positive attention or shared humor even more. But
I think that extreme actions like these are a shout out for attention. Like, "Hey, look at me!"

That is very insightful. I feel sorry for those who crave attention. I am the opposite, I like my solitude and anonymity. Perhaps as we get older we realise what is important.
Attention from strangers on the internet is particularly futile I think.
That poor woman seeks an audience to give herself meaning perhaps.

Thanks for your kind words. I like that kind of attention or maybe recognition
would be the better word. But with so many people in the world, it's hard to
feel noticed sometimes. I don't mind that the spotlight isn't always on me.

That poor woman is the only one who knows why she does what she does.
But from the amount of body modification she's had and estimating the cost
of her piercings in view along with her manner of dress, I doubt she's poor.

Attention from strangers is futile, I think, in the long run. Because most of
the strangers we meet both online and off, stay strangers. But the stranger
some people act, maybe they think that the attention might turn into
admiration and be beneficial in some way to what they hope to achieve.

Well, she's only 30 years old. She's young and her body can heal rapidly. She hasn't developed any chronic ailments or physical handicaps. She has been on her own since she was a 21-year-old stripper. Look, you can't protect everyone, and she will probably not make it to retirement age. However, this young woman has a value as an object lesson. That lesson is that every person has a need for trusted and caring people in their life for guidance and direction.

I wish her luck.

As far as tattoos, piercings, body modifications, etc..........when a person does that for the purpose of becoming famous for having the "most piercings", "most tattoos", "most body mods", they have entered the world of entertainment and should expect that some people...heck, MOST people, will be critical.

It's no difference than an opera singer, a football player, an athlete who put themselves out there for public adulation AND a pay-off. If someone doesn't like their "performance", they'll be criticized.....rightfully so. I'd say the vast majority of the most extreme tattooed, pierced and modified have websites they make money off. Thus, they become "entertainers".

I have one small hidden tattoo, one pierced earring per ear and the only body mods I have undertaken were done by surgeons for health reasons...LOL.

I'm all for anyone doing their thang, God knows. Just don't ask me to consider it an act of art.

As far as famous people are concerned, the industry demands that if they want to be relevant then they should grow neither old nor fat. so it is inevitable that they will have surgery and live on lettuce leaves if that is what it takes.

I don't know what causes people to have extreme body/face modifications. It is very sad to see people who have gone to such extremes that they are left with physical problems. Maybe they crave attention, a feeling that they are someone and not just anyone?

..and specialists say no to more work.. or should they ?

Do you feel that a person has a right to do what they want with their body despite the dangers..?

Mary Magdalene.. A Canadian Model age 30, has since the age of 21 been having her body altered and re-sculpted to the detriment of her health. She can no longer close her mouth due to surgeries on her lips. Her Breasts have been enlarged to the point where she has terrible back problems and has to rely on a wheelchair to get around now.. and recently one of her breast implants burst leaving her with One Mono breast...

Clearly she has mental issues with regard to how she sees her body, but I'm sure she would disagree.. but it's pretty sad to see a young pretty girl destroy herself like this..

age 21..

One woman died from it.

Influencer Joselyn Cano, 30, reportedly dead after botched surgery

It's something off in their brains. Watching the TV show Botched, sometimes these people are on who want bigger boobs, want to look like a fantasy character etc. While the doctors don't operate on them, they are still presented on the show.

I'd have been happy to just not have an eating disorder and be a normal weight.

Ecactly my thoughts. To me it's all about getting attention also. Obviously these people think they may become famous like celebrities.
