Please give me warning

I know there are those of you who love all aspects of animal life, but I don't and if it's not a family pet, it may be some sort of creepy crawly that sends me over the moon. I can't help it, can't afford counseling for it, and too damned old to care about changing my attitude toward it.

All I ask, please give me some advance warning before you post them. It's easy enough to move to another thread if you know they're upcoming. Since I didn't get warned, I'm hoping there are no nightmares from those gawdawful spiders, but I'll let you know in the morning. It's time for lights out and I'm going to be thinking roses and lavender and hope it works.

Goodnight all!

Now I'm glad I didn't post a pic of the creepy-crawly I found outside the other night. Not a spider, but very big and icky. I'm not fond of spiders, but not freaked out like I used to be about them. I guess they're rather fascinating creatures; don't mind the yellow and black garden spiders anymore. It's the poisonous ones I am leery of for good reason.

Very good reason Anne. Spider identification is an early lesson taught around here.

I could be wrong but I think NZ only has one venomous spider species and it lives on the beaches.
(Typical of the Kiwis, they all come over here and live on Bondi beach.)

... local joke, sorry. Your serve Fern.

I know what Katy is talking about, only it is e-mails at work that are dangerous for me.

I'll never get over the pictures of some HUGE, I mean HUGE spiders things in the desert in Afghanistan I've seen. AHHHH

Here, I'll post one and show you all. Haha, just kiddin'.

Katybug, please accept this as my apology.
Use it to dispel the demons.

Absolutely beautiful way to start the day. Thank you.

I went to bed thinking about why I may be so neurotic about spiders and may have come up with the answer. One of my earliest memories was visiting my Uncle Frank's farm and we would always go for the weekend because of the distance involved. I remember he had been bitten on the chin by a Black Widow the night before we arrived. I will never forget the way he looked. It got worse and worse as the weekend went on. The dr visited him several times. I've seen pix after snake bites and it resembled that as I remember it in my young mind. So gross looking, almost indescribable. He had to have a small section of his chin removed, and I remember thinking how scary it looked and hearing he almost died from it. I'm sure it had a huge impact on me in being so young.

There, I think I may have saved myself therapy sessions, but knowing what may have caused my fright doesn't help it one bit, sad to say.

But to end it on a happy note, thank you for the peaceful and calming picture...wishing you a wonderful day.

With Halloween around the corner, prepare to see a lot of spiders and spider webs, that goes with the territory. Consider it free sensitivity therapy. :love_heart: Lots of spiders in and around my house, probably due to the spruce and pine trees outside. I don't like them, and I usually have a fly swatter handy to kill them...the cat helps me keep them a bit under control...I don't like to use any poisons whatsoever around the home. I've seen a few black widows in my day, mostly at work, and this area is supposed to have brown recluse spiders, not sure if I could even identify one if I saw it. We have snakes too, so if I get a serious bite from anything, I'll head to the docs.

What did you expect from a thread about horny spiders?
