Police Department Closed

Depending on which side of the fence one perches on the as of late national cry to unilaterally defund law enforcement agencies rant will quickly peter out once citizens realize that the very real but hollow threat of not calling law enforcement agencies trained to protect and to serve but calling allied agencies that will come a calling with the latest politically correct playbook not to help minorities but to legally divert public safety funds into their own private contract federal grant coffers. Sorta like when SC said to the hood that only a W*p would bring a knife to a gunfight.

Personally I don't have an opinion one way or the other about this centuries old latent but now a national hot button issue. Anyway if I was a hardworking dedicated street cop unlike the "I was in fear for my life" individuals who shoot people in their backs" I would have no problem taking a bullet in the chest for doing my job as opposed to taking a knife in my back for following the orders from the very same suits who pay me to follow their orders I would give two good craps less. Fire me, I'll collect unemployment like the whining bleaters who just happened to be turning their lives around when they got taken down at 3:45AM with a gat in their hand and 5 eight balls of rock in their sag pants. Yo.

Anyway, on with the show. Enjoy and let's please bury our hatchets and celebrate the oncoming and hopefully productive New Year.

This afternoon, I was driving out of the park where I have my 30 minute walk. Nice, sunny 72 degrees & at the exit, there are many pedestrians & a bike path. While I was waiting for pedestrians to finish crossing, a guy behind me starts honking repeatedly - even while pedestrians & bicyclists were crossing in front of me....like, "I don't care; run 'em over."
Then he hits my car - obviously intentionally. While I was getting pen & paper to write his license plate in case he took off, he speeds around me & drives off. I wrote down his license plate number.
I went to the police station to file a report & there is a sign on the door: "Police Station Closed." I thought it was a joke; I've never heard of a closed police station.
Another sign says "Scan bar code on your phone or call to make a report." When I called, a recording says the police station is open until 11:00pm 7 days/week & leave a message. Well, it isn't; I was there at 3:30pm. I left a message.
What a time to need police for something really serious.
I am a retired Maryland State Trooper. The smaller local departments were not operational 24 hours due to lack of funding and officers. The times that they were closed, we would handle their reports if it was an emergency. Hopefully with you getting the license plate, that the driver can be tracked down.

Update: I phoned another police department on Monday, 12-28 & was told to file a report online & someone would contact me later for more details. So far, no one has contacted me.

I agree that there seems to be more aggressive driving; I came to a complete stop before making a right turn the other day, at a lighted intersection which is posted saying right turns only permitted after stopping & then when it's safe mind you, I stopped for just an instant to make sure it was safe & the guy behind me went crazy with the horn. Seems like everyone's gone nuts.
Impatient Als I call them. They are the worst. Always in a hurry and then later you see them at the coffee shop.
