Police Shot and Killed in Baton Rouge

I just caught this on CNN. Apparently some police officers have been shot in Baton Rouge. I just heard that local news said that 3 officers have been killed but it has not been confirmed. The remaining officers(4) are in critical condition. They say that this is still an active seen. I am watching this as the news has just come out. They said it's one gunman with an AR15 assault rifle.

Just caught it on the news myself. This is NOT good! I don't have a single detail yet, but regardless of who, why or what, with the emotions in the country at their current state and Trump throwing matches in the oil, this could push us off over the edge.

There are reports of a second shooter/suspect in a standoff with police and that they lured into a ambush.

RIP officers killed speedy recovery to survivors.

I can't keep up, I thought the issue stayed but emotions settled down. There is still crap on the Dallas shooter that needs to come out. 200 arrested yesterday in Baltimore. There is still information and investigation on the original Baton Rouge shooting. These killers are vicious narcissistic opportunists, I don't think were at revolution yet although this is a narrative that will used and forced on the public to further their agenda.

Well that too. Apparently now there are multiple shooters. One dead. Two at large.

I just had to listen to a newsman tell me that "we all have to pray". I am so sick and tired of listening to "our thoughts and prayers".
Isn't it about time to drop the praying and concentrate on the thoughts? Compassion for the families? Yes, but the compassion of fellow human beings who know suffering themselves and truly care for each other. Not mutterings to the sky that certainly aren't accomplishing anything.
Sorry to offend anyone. Just my opinion of course.
 
Call me cynical, but prayer isn't the answer here. Seems to me there's been a lot of prayers offered up in the past few years and maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking the "big guy" upstairs is getting a bit tired of hearing us, and wants us to figure it out on our own. This hate in our country and around the world isn't going to be solved by prayer. It might make some people feel good, but it's not going to do a damn thing about fixing the current state of civilization.

Not cynical. Thoughtful. Is it just barely within the realm of possibility that there is no big guy? If there is one and he isn't listening, what's the point? A large part of our current problem is about my Big Guy is bigger than yours.
 
The suspect has been identified as Gavin Long. He was only 29 yrs old and today was his birthday. No reason is known for the shooting as of yet. 3 officers are dead and another three are wounded and one of them is in critical condition. The President is supposed to speak about it momentarily.

The killer is also an ex Marine from another state and supposedly part of an anti government group called the New Freedom Group.

Sad but better side note. A Milwaukee Police Officer was injured when he was shot sitting in his car.

You are right, of course, although I might add that when we pray about something we must then become part of the response.

Long, who decided to carry out the murderous spree on his birthday, was an ex-Marine who has now been tied to an anti-government organization called the New Freedom Group. He apparently traveled to Louisiana from his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri to commit the deadly act and was killed by police after the shooting erupted.

I haven't been able to get any information about the New Freedom Group. Something is telling me the motive for this shooting is not what most of the country was thinking..
 
I have been watching CNN. There are 3 officers dead and 3 are wounded. One is in very critical condition and is fighting for his life now. This morning they said 4 were critical but that is not so according to the latest report.

It's not really apparent why this happened today although they have showed a video that the shooter made and was on FB on July 10. I cannot find it on Youtube but saw it earlier. He talked about bullies and that all they understand is violence; said they don't understand protests only violence.

Shooter apparently had ptsd and had a prescription for drugs like Ativan, Valium and Lunesta. Details vague since his medical records still private.

This killer was into a lot of crap and held a lot of radical views as do many but they don't act on them. Pyschotropic drugs have a history of being involved with mass murders/murderers with possible side affects that include aggression.

Drugs aren't THE problem here but seem to be crucial factor or key ingredient for spree killing and/or mass murder.

I ididn't know that. I have taken ativan, and valium before but never went on a mass murder spree.

I don't think it's the drug per say. People have to have thoughts of aggression there-he was a soldier and already HAD resentment, attitude and/or extreme views. Many drugs seem to lower inhibition meaning the individual has little or no impulse control. If someone is already filled with anger and rage amplified with drugs it will become harder not to act on them. Harder to control one's urges in many of the murderers cases-kill.

Yes, his extreme views and the ativan together..I can see that.
