Since men die before women, I think polygamy should be legalized for everyone over age 80. In that way, as folks die off, the lost men could be replaced by polygamous men who could take many wives. Another benefit would be many folks caring for each other which would tend to replace huge nursing bills and nursing homes.
 

excellent idea as long as not compulsory - weekly\monthly account bills could be complex and how to deal with fights in the kitchen? apart from outbreaks of diseases??
 
Sorry @Mitch86, but I don't want to become a sister wife in my old age.

My household now consists of three generations of females who are relatives by birth - I in my eighties, my daughter in her sixties and my youngest granddaughter who is in her thirties.

Added to the household there are four aging pet hens, one middle aged female cat and a female possum who visits the garden every evening for a feed of fruit.

I have enough people to keep me company, and to care for.

This old woman really needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.

I'm not sure the idea of being surrounded by the smells of mothballs and cat boxes sounds very appealing to me. What's the upside?

How much nagging and bickering are you up for? Don't expect them to cook, clean, or care for you!

Where does this notion spring from anyway? Do they start prescribing more interesting drugs once you hit 80, or what? :ROFLMAO:

Well it isn't illegal now - the marriage wouldn't be recognised but nothing to stop people doing this in all but name if they want to.
I sure wouldn't want to - if my husband dies before me I can' t think of anything worse than becoming the 2nd wife of another man.

Mitch. Does your wife know you have your eye on a couple side chicks? And do you realize that men dont always die first.
You could end up being the housemaid for the group if they all get sick.

And consider that some of us can be quite feisty. So instead of being the king of the castle
surrounded by your concubines you could end up being the palace slave. :D

While this sounds fine and dandy for you men, wheres the benefits for us women. I think I will pass. Men my age are old. :D
