I've often wondered how much control; sayso and power he really had in his own realm??Rest in peace Pope Francis, a true representative of the word of Jesus.
More open minded? Pope Francis was quite progressive in his thinking. In fact, one reporter noted that although he picked 80% of the cardinals, there's no guarantee the next pope will be as progressive as he was. Pope Francis allowed priests to bless same sex marriages. His views on LGBT:They need to get someone younger and more openminded. The Catholic Church needs to come into the 21st Century.
Conclave is a movie.I watched, "Conclave," last night and it was very interesting to see how the Popes are selected.
Pope Francis kind of politicized his position as Pope. I agreed with some of his tenets, but not all of them. I believe he may have been too kind of a man and was hoping to turn the world into a Utopian society. Maybe I am overstating my thoughts about his position on certain topics.More open minded? "While Pope Francis maintained the Vatican's position that homosexual acts were sinful, he said gay people should not be marginalised from the Church, adding: "Who am I to judge?" To keep things in context, he also pointed out that mistreatment of others is a sin.
Pope Francis was game-changer, says London LGBT Catholic group
He spoke out against what's happening to Palestinians, although that brought criticism and this Pope did his own thing. He did not wear the red robes, he did not stay at the Vatican's mansion, he did not wash the cardinals' feet, but washed the feet of those who were imprisoned. He was a humble man who was called "the People's Pope". I really liked Pope Francis (couldn't stand his predecessor). Although he was very ill, his death came as a shock. I just saw him on that balcony overseeing the Easter proceedings. May he be rewarded for his great deeds and may he Rest in Paradise.
Maybe you are. I think he just wanted us as human beings to be decent, to treat each other with respect, no matter our differences. I don't think that's too much to ask of us as humans. Perhaps we've gotten too used to mistreatment of others and abuse of power as the norm in todays world. If that is the case, then it's a damned shame!Pope Francis kind of politicized his position as Pope. I agreed with some of his tenets, but not all of them. Right? The movie was exactly correct as to how a Pope is selected.Conclave is a movie.
That's good to hear! Hollywood usually gets anything Catholic-related (e.g., sacraments) wrong. I'd been avoiding Conclave just for that reason, but maybe I'll give it a try.Right? The movie was exactly correct as to how a Pope is selected.
Sorry, but the Catholic Church continues to lose membership. Pope Francis was a great leader in that he eschewed wealth and was a champion for the common man. However, his support for the gay community was weak at best. He even used a vulgar term about gay men in the Priesthood.More open minded? Pope Francis was quite progressive in his thinking.
