It's come to the point where lock and key is no longer good enough, homeowners now need security, video cameras/surveillance, motion detectors, security lighting, sirens, bells, whistles, and security fencing around the perimeter of their property.

Sentences are far too namby-pamby.

If I were in charge, thieves just like this would lose their drivers licenses for life, and I would have them do one full year of community service.

So long as the legal system carries on handing-out handfuls of gummy bears and applying a light slap on thieves wrists, we will continue to see crookery.

Not sure of what exactly they do with the items they take if off a porch..... could be anything seems like more risk then reward to follow delivery vans, look to see if some one is watching or who has a video and then grabbing a box that could be electronics or cat food or litter...... big difference in reward and resale value.
Maybe like shoplifting and such I hear some of those sell on FB marketplace or e-bay .......Why is that not trafficking stolen goods? .........perhaps if FB had to pay a fine for that etc they would quit allowing it to thrive.
While I know of a lady who buys tons on clearance and resales........ any platform could require a receipt or invoice to know it was not stolen before letting thieves set up an online store.

Not knowing what's in the package could be part of the attraction; like opening a gift-wrapped present.
I was trying to find a video I saw on You Tube to post here. I think they removed it.
A woman was stealing a package from a porch & the homeowner must have seen her on his doorbell camera. He opened the door & pointed a shotgun at her. She just froze. He started talking to her about how it's wrong to take things other people worked for, etc. He handed the gun to his roommate who put it away & continued a conversation with her. If I remember, he actually gave her some phone numbers to call for a job.
Pretty interesting, huh?

I vote for the shotgun as a deterrent.
In most states, if the incident was reported, the homeowner would be in much more trouble than the thief. Brandishing a deadly weapon without a threat of great bodily injury or death can result in criminal charges & prison time. And it often does.

I think that the driver of that car should not have driven
in winter conditions without training! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Shouldn't be stealing in the first place.

Mike.
