I find it more difficult to grab thing with mitts.
That's why the Ove Glove for the toaster oven. I've burnt the top of my hand on small ovens in the past. No more. The burn ends up right where I slide my hand into my jeans pocket. The mitts have always been way too big for my small hands, but I agree that the potholders leave you open for a burn on the wrist or back of the hand. It's all kind of dangerous.
As a kid I used a dish towel to take a cast iron pan out of the oven. Problem was, the towel was damp. Burned the crap out of the palm of my hand.I feel the same way. Plus they take up too much room.
I have some everyday potholders. And some vintage ones that are just for looks.
But most of the time I juist use a dish towel.
And how many do you use at once, Nathan?Haven't had an oven mitt in years, but we got so many pot holders you can barely get the drawer shut.
same , I was just going to say the same thing ... Oven gloves are wayyy to big for my hands so they slip around making them dangerous.... I use folded teatowelsThe mitts have always been way too big for my small hands, but I agree that the potholders leave you open for a burn on the wrist or back of the hand. We have both potholders and oven mitts. We also have silicone mitts. They are really good. We use both equally depending on what we are cooking .I use both mitts and potholders. to me there is a huge difference.
I mostly use mitts in the oven because they cover more of my hands. They are safer for me.
I have one set of mitts that are very long.
They make silicone mitts and potholders now, I have not tried them yet, have you ever tried those.
I have a silicon mitt that I can reach into a pot of boiling water with and pluck out whatever is being cooked. I've only done that a couple of times but it worked!
Thatās what my husband does.I just grab a kitchen towel.
