Power and Cable Outage

way upstate in New York, USA
Power went out at 7:30 this morning. Came back on just before 10, but the cable service was out. Power went out again around noon, but just for a few minutes. The cable was still out. Cable came back just before 1 pm. No mention on the local news about the interruption.

I live in NY State as well. We seem to be getting a hit of wet weather, especially East of me (I am west of Syracuse) I am not sure if Elsa is far enough north to affect us yet, but a FB friend in PA got some heavy rain.
It has been rather foggy the last hour or so though
 
We have been very lucky not to have gotten hit with outages in my town in New Jersey.
A couple of days ago I went to Walmart and was surprised to find it closed because of a power loss. We are only about 10 miles away.
I don't mind the rain but am so very afraid of wind. Our trees are very close to the house, are very old, and not in good shape.
My son thinned them out a couple of years ago but they have grown in again.
 
It's been extremely rainy the last few days in Northeastern PA. I just have some touch up painting on the ark, before we sail. I haven't lost power, but the cable has gone out a few times, due to monster rain storms, the latest was this morning.
 
In my area, ill-maintained trees or their large branches frequently come down during a storm on power lines, taking out electric power and cable/phone services for hours at a stretch. Then you get a living history lesson on what life was like in the 19th century!
