Practical Question and Answer Thread

Gaer, interior decorators are always looking for unique ways to decorate high end homes and offices.

Ladies, Thank you for your input on marketing but no, not Etsy or craft shows. I mean professional marketing in a high end venue. But, I appreciate your help.
Start knocking on the doors of the shops that you believe should be carrying your items.

If you find an appropriate outlet offer to do a meet the artist night, provide a little wine and a few nibbles, send out a few invitations, alert the media, etc...

You could also contact the local media and try to arrange a puff piece about you and your items that might generate some interest in your items.

Try donating one to a high-end charity auction.

Good luck!

I'm a bit confused. Are the questions & answers supposed to be serious, or would this thread fit better in the Games section?

Oops, sorry.. I meant basic serious questions like Gardenlover posted (getting hungry after starting diet) that another member might know the answer to and could answer in a sentence or two.

So your title says "practical" but your focus seems to be more in the spiritual area. Practical, to me, means real world. Spiritual is other worldly. Do they ever intersect? Possibly. But your spirituality and someone else's may be altogether different. I think you have an entirely different and personal agenda. But whatever. I don't trust you.

Why doesn't this forum have a book review page?

Am I the only one researching family tree?
I don't understand the connection to ancestry, but yes, I am researching mine. So far, I found that Nordic gods are a big part of my family tree. ;)

Sorry, upon reflection I was being a bit of a Smarty Pants.

On a practical level, I have trouble with heartburn and we have had to move our evening meal to a much earlier time. This results in me getting pretty hungry before bedtime or in the middle of the night.
What is a good bedtime snack that doesn't cause heartburn?

Move your dinner back to your regular time and buy this (Amazon). This stuff is all natural and will knock out heartburn in a minute or less. It really, really works. I like vinegar,so don`t mind the taste. If you don`t like vinegar,it might be tough but it`s only a swig.

I agree with Mrs. Robinson. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar was the only thing that killed my reflux. I now use it every day on a lettuce salad. Pills quit working and I was at my wits end until I tried it. Hope it works for you.

Yow! I get instant heartburn even looking at ripe bananas! Everyone's different, though.
yes it's strange isn't it how it's different for everyone ?...I was horrified at the recommendation of Vinegar from some, because the slightest taste of vinegar is enough to send me into the worst heartburn symptoms ( I have a Hiatus/hiatal hernia) I would be in agony if I drank that

Purpose of life:
Words may not encompass the extraordinary ways a soul must live through the senses of the physical body to grow to an enlightened being but simply put, Life on this Earth is a purposeful function necessary for a soul to experience in order to lift the consciousness into a higher being and a higher level of existence. The soul must develop in inexplainable ways to prepare the mind of the soul and the heart (feeling) of the soul for the ways of God.

Now, I have a practical question Janice, I've designed and developed a series of cartoon sculptures, (really funny!) which I would like to market. I have NO IDEA how to market them! I am making molds and handpainting them so they won't be really cheap, but won't be able to manufacture them in bulk either, because I'm doing this on my own. Who knows anything about marketing? Can someone direct me to what my next step should be? Thanks in advance if you can help!

Have you looked at Etsy and other online marketplaces? How about gift shops and boutiques in your area? Offer to sell them on consignment and give them a share in the profit, or offer to rent space in the store. Local flea markets are a good option also. Do you belong to a church or other organization that hosts bazaars or rummage sales? Sometimes you can find art fairs at local venues where you can rent space for display. Have some business cards and brochures made to showcase your best pieces, and keep them handy to give out. Just my few cents' worth :)
