Precious Lilly crossed the Rainbow Bridge Last Night

Lilly has been battling several health issues for the past few years: bladder cancer, epilepsy, and digestive problems. Late yesterday evening at the age of almost 14 1/2, everything seemed to converge, and she started having severe seizures that we could not get under control. I drove her up to the nearest emergency hospital in Columbia, SC, but to no avail. It became readily apparent that this wonderful little Bichon was finished, and it was time to let her cross the rainbow bridge.

While we knew this was coming, it still doesn't make it easier. We are grieving now, and the younger Bichon is lost without her older sister. The love of a good dog is so very special.

I have read that if you "don't know sadness, then you won't know joy." I suppose that is true, but it still hurts.

Very sad to hear about your dear Lilly. I know what heartbreak it is to love them during Epilepsy and Cancer. My heart goes out to you, so sorry for your loss, my condolences. I know your other furbaby is grieving. Hugs and love to all of you. 💜

I'm so very sorry to hear this, @Pecos . And yes, it hurts like crazy... in fact, today (April 16) is the Rainbow Bridge crossing date for my dear kitty daughter four years ago. There were 15 years of pure joy, but never a day goes by that the pain isn't there. I know your life was better for having loved Lilly... and definitely for having her love you all those years.

We had to do the same with Willy, our Birman cat for many years. Willy died in my lap, a lap where he spent half his life. It’s something I’ve never forgotten and never will.
