Prefer a bath or shower?

I do love a nice hot bath but I stick to showers. I'd have to call Sea World to bring one of those slings they move Shamu with to get me out of a regular bathtub. The last time I took a bath I thought I'd never get out.

Now give me a nice hot Jacuzzi with steps and a railing to pull myself out...... PARADISE!!! Too bad I don't have one...<sigh>

My late mom was lamenting that she wanted to take just one more bath before she died. I told her I'd get her in the bath and if it took the fire department to get her out, we'd call the fire department.

Well, she couldn't get out but I actually came up with a great solution.

I took my jeans off and sat on the end of the tub. I soaped down my legs and had her scoot up on my feet. I hooked my forearms under her arm pits and with a little help of her pushing on a plastic stool that we had braced at her feet at the end of the tub, I managed to slide her up my legs onto my lap.

Then I grabbed the grab bars and brought both of us to our feet. Rinsed us off and we stepped out of the tub.

It worked very well, but we didn't try it again. She was happy with the one last bath. And I was happy to be able to fulfill her wish.

What I’ve been using in my bathtub for the past couple years since I turned 80:

It’s not perfect and it is expensive, but it allows me to continue taking baths without calling the Fire Dept. when I need to get out.

It lowers to within 2” of the bottom of the tub. … and it raises you up to where it is handy to just stand up. .. and I have grab bars on both the wall (built-in) and on the tub wall.
The remote is easy to use. ..it’s rechargeable. *** It just needs to always be high enough above the tub so that it doesn’t rest in the water. It has a long cord for hanging.

Thanks for sharing that!

I will never take a bath again! I poured myself a nice warm bath, sat down, and then had no strength in my legs to stand up! Finally I somehow got on my knees and was able to...oh, never mind! I get sweaty just thinking about it. Showers only from now on.

I never want to slip or be unable to get in or out of my tub,
so I'd better be very extra careful. Thinking of not being able
to stand back up, gives me a sweat also.

That's a problem that concerns me about my wife. At present she uses a clip-on grip handle and a non slip, suction cap bath mat.

We have always taken the precaution of only having a soak in the bath when either of us can call the other for help, should we need it.

We don’t have a walk in shower. The shower’s in the tub and so far we have no problems getting in and out.

If I want to get clean I use the shower, so I shower once, sometimes twice a day. If I need to soothe achy muscles or just relax, I’ll soak in the bathtub with a glass of wine.

Definitely shower. When I go over things in my mind that I want to express gratitude for I always include showers and hot and cold running water. Showers and baths are something we take for granted that not everyone on the planet has access to.

Very occasionally will take a long soaking bubble bath, semi sleeping. Otherwise, greatly enjoy refreshing showers, every day or three. Last Wednesday after a very successful and strenuous photography day in the field, on a day when temperatures were in the 90Fs, stopped at a Los Angeles Aqueduct road crossing location with walk-in fishing access, where a warning sign related stay out of the canal lest one drown. Well how refreshing that was!
