Price increases

oh i believe that. everyone i know across the west is having awful allergy issues due to dust heat and blowing
dirt. the air is saturated with crap.
i get real pissy when im hot and having to get things done. i keep enough water on hand to douse myself and my shirt.
even my head at times. i dont care i just need to feel wet, other than hot.
I just grab the water hose and spray myself down, working outside in the heat and yard makes me itch. I go from head to toe. I go in through the laundry room, take off the wet clothes, straight into the washer, turn the corner and just steps to a cold cleaning shower!!

Have you ever had a Bueno bar? OMG...they are SO good! Reminds me of a Twix and Kit Kat, two of my favorites, combined. My son shared one with me, haven't had one since only because the local supermarket I shop at doesn't have them. Reading through the posts and mentions of gas stations, it just occurred to me to check the mini mart at our neighborhood gas station...they may have them.
Ah, expanding my horizons deep into the sin of gluttony, are you?

I will look for the Bueno bar. It sounds great. I like Twix and Kit Kat, too.

I used to do that with the kids. They weren't itchy, they were filthy from their project to dig a hole to China. It was my idea, sadly.

Oh, I do buy foods that are naturally GF. The ones that aren't are foods that my son wants to eat, as well.
My son is a strict vegan, due to animal cruelty. He is GF because he feels sick when he eats foods with wheat or bran in them.

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but I have to speak up. Sorry. 😟 Be careful with the Bueno bar. I'm sure they're delicious, but if your son needs to avoid gluten/wheat, these probably aren't the best choice.

I got the impression from @WheatenLover's reply that she being a choco-holic is interested in Bueno bars for herself, not her son.

I always check the ingredients. If I'm not sure, I either ask my son or look it up at the company's website. I'm the candy bar fiend, at least lately. My son doesn't eat sweets.

There are people being greatly affected by the prices.

However, I can't completely disagree with your post. Some jerk speeds by me this AM in his souped up noisy car only to sit at the red light as I did. I only arrived a few seconds later. You are right about the drive throughs and the coffee drive ups. With all the good coffee creamers available, those coffee places are not necessary except as an occasional treat which I don't even do. I'm using Califia Barista blend oat.
A couple of days ago, I stopped at a Tim Horton for a small cup of coffee. It was $1.60 CND. You pay for having someone make the coffee for you that you could just as well make at home cheaper.

That's always been true. Unless traveling, I probably only buy Starbucks-type coffees once a year. Home coffee makers turn out very good coffee. I love my travel mugs and reusable water bottles.

Grocery & Costco carts laden with bottled water never fails to shock me. They're expensive and terrible for the environment.

If people taste tested bottled water versus their tap water after being run through an inexpensive countertop filter like Brita, probably very few would detect a difference - or at least not enough of a difference to justify the expense.

@StarSong I completely do not get the bottled water. Some people may live where they need to get it to drink but you can buy the big jugs at filling stations for those. I'm fine with tap water and I too have stainless water bottles.

@Packerjohn I understand sometimes you need that cup of coffee when out and about. My workplace does not provide coffee and when I've had to work over, I have to go get a cup at the drive through place to keep me going. Other than that, it's coffee at home for me.

I don't see what's wrong with a living wage. But the high prices we are experiencing now are extraordinary and I'm not sure they can be laid at the doorstep of paying people fairly for their work. I think it's not taxing the wealthiest enough that is ruining our economy.
Many of the big corporations have seen huge profits in part because they have not increased wages for the workers in balance with the normal cost of living. The money goes to upper management and shareholders, and everyone else is not important to them.

What they forget is you can't have a consumer based economy if the bulk of the population can barely afford necessities much less luxuries. Workers make up the major customer base for any business that doesn't deal only in high end luxuries, but if they have to work to jobs to afford necessities they/we won't have time or energy for much else even if that gives them a modicum of 'disposable' income.

Sooner or later there comes a reckoning. You would think the oandemic would have taught more folks to value the truckers, cashiers stockers who worked harder due to co-workers falling ill, and at risk to themselves to keep stores stocked as best they could.

I do buy bottled water stash it in the extra fridge. I like to give a bottle to my postman, sanitation workers and delivery people when I catch them. The dogs tell me someone is coming. I just grab some and open the door. I also have them for visitors to take one with them when they leave.

LOL...you can always tell people who live in Hot countries, by the water gifts....

Like you I always have a few bottles of water in my fridge in case someonewants some but most people carry their own these days.

When I offer water to delivery people they decline, saying they have large jugs of ice water in their trucks.
