My daughter reminded me the other day about a game at the park I invented when my girls were 5 or 6 years old.
They'd both sit opposite on the teeter totter...one of them would go down and the other would rise up high in the air. I'd yell out...
"There's a Princess in the tower!! I'm going to save her!!"
So I'd run over to my daughter and she'd quickly drop down to the ground and I'd be left grasping and hugging thin air. Then the other daughter was up in the air and I'd yell out...
"There's another Princess in the tower! I'm going to save HER!!!
She'd drop down and I'd again stumble and grasp at thin air as she fell beneath me. The girls thought this was absolutely hysterical and would roar with laughter...me running back and forth every time...whiffing at thin air...as they went up and down.
My girls aren't little anymore. They just turned 18...yikes!...legal adults! But I really get wistful for those days when being silly all of the time was par for the course, and goofy, repetitive jokes would make my girls titter with laughter.
