I guess I had never thought of it before, but it's likely that the majority of the world is on drugs. Think about that.
It's not a criticism it's just a sudden realization.
We consume caffeine, beer, wine, cocktails, nicotine, marijuana, all manner of OTC and prescribed medications, and even some energy drinks.
From fraternities to seniors, we seem to need them to function well in society.

I suppose one could even point out that our own bodies produce them anyway as a response to behaviors (Gambling, shopping, and gaming).
That portion of society that don't think they are on drugs, probably are.
I have no point; it's just something that dawned on me.
Oh well ......, time for another cup of joe.

The change that I’ve noticed are the commercials encouraging young people to differentiate between fentanyl laced knock off drugs and real big pharma drugs.

It feels like the recreational use of drugs is now being accepted.

I have to admit that I know nothing about recreational drug use and am not trying to be critical because I enjoyed my share of alcohol and tobacco over the years.

Everything we eat, and smell goes into our body and then a biochemical reaction/process occurs. It is interesting how the myriads of different substances have myriads of effects. There is substances abuse of all kinds and even death by some. It is all chemicals and it is up to us individually to choose our additions. :)

If you’re a Brit of a certain vintage then you will be familiar with the delights of ā€œProfessorā€ Stanley Unwin.

Unwin was an expert in Unwinese, a personal mangled language. He was also a comic genius with an unparalleled ability to lecture on anything from astronomy and the arts to the internal combustion engine, All in fluent gibberish.

Was Stanley snorting something illegal? You decide:
Now, once a-polly tito. You may think that doesn’t sound quite right. But believe me, once a-polly tito it is, and in this case it was Goldyloppers.
Goldyloppers trittly-how in the early mordy, and she falolloped down the steps. Oh unfortunade for crackening of the eggers and the sheebs and the buttery full-falollop and graze the knee-clappers. So she had a vaselubrious, rub it on and a quick healy huff and that was that. So off she went, and she went trittly-how down the garbage path, and at the left right-hand-side goal she passed a [sniff] poo-pom, it was hillows a humus heapy in the garbage!

we don't have those types of adverts. No prescription drugs of any kind are allowed to be advertised on our TV channels..

I don't smoke cigarettes , tobacco, or any other kind of drug..I don't drink alcohol.. and I don't ingest any kind of illicit drug.... I rarely drink coffee... and I never drink energy drinks.. I've never even tasted an energy drink..it's not for me.. depsite them being popular with the masses

That’s why you looks so young I’m guessing. Good for you.
On a side note, in my area of the country 50 percent (my estimation) are hooked on pain pills. My buddy worked at a bank and he said ā€œevery chick here is popping pills!ā€ At a bank! Dudes in some trades are worse. It might be a higher figure, I’m being conservative.

thanks for the compliment..it may be true... I hope it is..lol....

Wow, I have never looked at it that way before. But is so very true...Wow, I'm still shaking my head... And all those things were done in front of us slowly, and here we are inhaling and eating and drinking the stuff they allow us to,,,

If anything, and it is near impossible, but we need, and I mean all of as, need to start taking our lives and needs back...

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, Happiness Stan?

Modern civilization for sure probably is. I just finished my cup of coffee for the morning and it wasn’t decaffeinated. Most of our drugs are OTC ones that we don’t even really think about.
It's the word drugs, Patty. It's synonymous with illegal narcotics. In newspapers on television, we hear about drugs bust, drugs raid, even drug barons.
Out of interest I looked up the definition of the two most popular hot drinks, that of tea and coffee. The word caffeine never appeared in either definition.

Ah, deep joy and sympatholode for the dear lady of abstainamagroove! For lo, she treads the wibble-wobble pathway of society unbubbled by the whoosh of the stimulodrinks and the zingle-zangle of the medidruggeroo. A fine and rare speci-lode indeed, standing tall and clear-o mind in the midst of the puff-puff, tipple-tipple, and zip-zap coffee peep.

Such fortitudelode! To face the bobbly hurly-burly of the human scape without a slither or sip of the mood-shifty helpsome—well, that’s a bravimost endeavor-o! And never a touchlet of the energy fizzipopper? Oh my wordlode, the masses be zipping and zapping, but you, fine abstaineroo, stand in full claritybeam, untainted by the caffeinorama or tippletangle. Bravo!

Not in the U.S. We even have people dancing on tv medication commercials.

Humans deliberately consumed certain herbs, tree barks, fermented fruits, etc., as medications or mind-altering substances from the time we climbed out of the trees.

Other creatures can be observed doing likewise. (What are dogs' habits of eating grass when feeling sick, if not an instinctual draw to a "medication" to induce vomiting of a possibly harmful substance they ingested?)

It most certainly IS a drug.

Caffeine is a stimulant drug, which means it speeds up the messages travelling between the brain and the body.

It’s found in the seeds, nuts and leaves of a number of different plants.
