Queen Offers Minimum Wage to Future Employee

I was brought up in a Scottish Presbyterian tradition, or rather, I had it rammed down my throat. It didn't take long for me to reject the idea of god, and that hasn't changed. I am British. I was born in the UK and I am, in principle at least, a supporter of the Royal family. I have no intention of moving to a "godless country". I don't need to as the UK seems to be going that way itself.

You will, of course, never understand the concept of royalty unless you were born to it, but the Queen is anointed by God and if you believe in God you must believe in the God given right to rule.

If you don't believe in God then move to a godless Republic like China or North Korea!

The laws of God cannot be transcended by the laws of man. Man made laws may remove the office, it doesn't remove the title.

As I've said in these columns before, the Comte de Paris is still the King of France. Prince Georg of Prussia is still the Kaiser, Prince Nikolai is still Czar of All the Russias, Karl von Habsburg is still the Austro Hungarian Emperor King Zog of Alban,ia has a living descendent somewhere as do the sovereign's of Italy, Greece and other places, any of them could be invited back at any time just as Juan Carlos of Spain was.

Why is the Queen in charge? Because God says so, and there's no changing that!

In the Titanic movie, the 3rd class passengers were loaded into the life boats last...some weren't even let out to try to save themselves. Even Rose's mother asked if the life boats were to be seated by "class". A great deal of the movie was about who was privileged and who was not.

"God says so?" How do you know, Laurie?

Of course, your reply is so over the top that it might actually be sarcasm. It's hard to believe that anyone in this day and age accepts such nonsense. I am an American, but I doubt that too many Brits would take that seriously either.

I'm not saying it's was right but the royal family of Russia, the Czar and his family, were executed during the Russian Revolution. The French, earlier, used the guillotine to get rid of their royals. The Brits took a different view. Apparently one of the outstanding features of the royals in the UK is the number of tourists they bring in. Americans seem to be in awe of the Queen's family. I believe most people in Canada like the royals and certainly are proud to be part of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Cromwell believed in God, was 'born to it', killed a king yet lived to a ripe old age for the day--especially for someone with malaria--of 59 and had a fancy, smancy state funeral at Westminster Abbey. Shortly after him, you got the Germans. Don't even go back further... If God has been in charge of anointing various rulers of the British Isles throughout the past millenia, he has certainly lost interest from time to time.

This is going into religion which is a minefield and I am no theologian Those who believe believe, those who don't believe don't. Everybody makes their own choice

That was just for the film.

In reality there were no boats for 3rd class passengers, they had to take potluck.

That was one of the things that came out of the Titanic disaster. The British Board of Trade insisted that every British registered ship carried enough lifeboats for every soul on board but up until the time of the Titanic there was no such requirement.
