Pepper, I finally believe in miracles! When I first noticed your name, you and two other ladies were gunning for me. I honestly don't remember who were the other two, or what the subject was, but it was at least a year ago. It's okay, I have that effect on people. :devilish: I have also started liking you. You have a dry humor, which is sometimes hard to appreciate.

Now I have to research what is a ''humanistic religion'', have no idea what it is. BUT, anything to do with religion always ends up disappointing me.
 
I've given myself 97 years (the age my mother died) and wouldn't want to live much longer than that. With the way the world is going, all the random killings, worsening storms and devastation, etc....I'm not sure I'd want to be here forever. A couple of people brought up having to face the deaths of loved ones. My son's ex once told me G-ma...you are going to outlive all of us. I told her please don't wish that on me! I can't think of anything worse than outliving everyone you love.

What if you were in good physical and mental health at 97?...And the world is actually getting much better than it was in the past...We live in safer and better times now than we ever did in the past...The News media and internet just make it seem like it's gotten worse because we have so much easy access to information now.

Ever notice how the self-professed reincarnated all used to be historically important people? At least 1,000 used to be Cleopatra. I've never read where a person admitted to being a person who was homeless or pumped-out portable toilets in their previous life.

And reincarnation is more than once, so you can imagine all the possible kinds of life and jobs. And since Indians (with the red dot, not the feathers) believe in reincarnation, how do they get around the caste system problem, are they always in the same caste system?

No...It's not a deal where you are locked-in to a caste or country. Sometimes they come back as convenience store owners.

I would love to take a live forever pill!! I am annoyed that Health and Space science and technology has moved so slow... 50 years ago I thought I would be alive when medicine can just regrow/recreate teeth, eyes, internal organs and what ever else we need when things go wrong. And when we have the ability to travel to investigate this and other galaxies .. ... how awesome will that be! I want to be alive for all this and more!

I remember reading about and seeing a photo of a rat or mouse with a human ear growing out of its back. That was a while back. Perhaps they're doing more advanced experiments and are not talking? I also remember, vaguely, about a working nont-biologic heart (plastic?).

My oldest son (42) told me the way I eat I will live to be a thousand ...lol I would not want to live no where near that long. Want to see what the next life has for me.

There is documentation and research papers but it is hard to find (and hard to read) in medical/dental etc. journals and the websites that the medical professionals and scientists subscribe to. Occasionally there will be an article posted for the public on the internet and/or newspapers/magazines.

Yes, they have made great progress but keep repeatedly running out of money/grants..so they stop and then someone else will get some money and continue.. The stop/start really slows down progress. The ear research is so far just for the outer ear to help someone who has had an ear damaged or cut off. The inner ear parts are a big challenge. Multiple, Tiny, delicate, not all attached together as a complete unit and some parts move. Big pharma and many in the medical profession don't want progress because they are making to much money off human disease, malfunction and suffering. So they try to slow down and stop research.

Scientists can already regrow teeth in a mouse mouth using stem cells or tooth buds but I don't think they can alter genes, yet, so that they just keep regenerating their existing teeth like the Rabbit, some lizards and a few other animals do. Humans already grow teeth twice and then this regrow ability turns off. Research is ongoing to be able to turn this ability on and off as needed. Rabbits only regrow as/when needed, then it turns off until they need it again. I have a tooth bud deep under the gum. I have normal teeth above it. Without xrays would never know it is there. When I was young I thought about what if it decided to start growing!! :D
More research is needed before scientists try to grow eyes and teeth in humans. As is expected it might be difficult to find humans willing to volunteer for those two!

When I was very young, 12-13, I had canines on top of my canines. I was scared, thought I was going to turn into a vampire. LOL I wonder if you were to lose the tooth above it if the bud would push through as a brand new tooth?

I have heard that if a lizard's tail is chopped off, it will regrow, but don't know if that is true. I have read about a school of fish where the leader can change sex, I don't remember if the leader is supposed to be a female or male, then when the leader dies or is killed the replacement becomes the leader's sex if not already that sex. I have read that if it's a bad year and a doe is pregnant, she will absorb the fetus and avoid giving birth. I have read of spiders that live in underground caves, totally dark, they are blind, and can go for years without finding a meal. Biology is very fascinating!
