Quiet Iceland News - Media Reports to Us Hushed

Probably is Phil.

Iceland is a very different proposition to a nation like the US or even OZ now. We kind of did things that way but too many splinter, political, ethnic differences and plain old self interest to get our heads together over anything much now.

Iceland is a small, homogenous, calm, well read and educated population with a very long history of stable democratic rule. They all had a single cause to fix and knew how to set about getting it done. Their way. The old way. The way democracy was meant to be and had been until the new ideas of cyber banking and fantasy economics were inflicted on them and started pulling the strings of their Government.

Good luck with a 'bloodless coup' against your Government's puppeteers.

But, stranger things have happened. Of all the memorable things I've seen happen on TV...the tanks through the gates in 'Nam, the shopper stopping tanks in Tianaman Sq., the moon landing, 9/11, I add to the list the amazement I felt watching the old USSR fall with comparatively few shots fired. Who'da thought?

Yeah, see, I think that's one of the largest determinants for having a well-oiled society - homogeneity - but to say so is a death sentence, because right away you're called prejudiced, close-minded and racist.

I firmly believe that bloodless change is possible, but it seems that all the planets have to be aligned just so in order for it to work ...
