Raising the Girls

When my daughters were very young, I rented some Disney movies for them. Inevitably I would get sucked in to watching as well. In one great animated scene Ariel was in a boat and about to kiss her Prince, but the kids were yelling and acting up right at that key juncture in the movie.

I shouted, "Stop talking! They're about to kiss!!!"

Then I had to go check myself in the mirror. What did I just say?! lol! Yeah...fatherhood really softens you up a bit. ;)

I was quite pleased that I had girls, though.

I've always been able to be a sort of 'silly Daddy'. I think with boys I would have had to be more strict and disciplinary. I'm the good cop in the household...can't stay mad at little girls for very long now can you?

Both are working...one at Starbucks and the other at The Dollar Store. Both attending College/ University. They're great kids! I guess you just take the goodness your own parents instilled in you...try not to repeat their errors...then just keep your fingers crossed.

They are officially adults now. Where did the years go?? I've always given them a lot of leash, but the deal always was 'If you get into any sort of trouble, you talk to me first.'

So far so good...

My own quote I made up on Parenthood is "Long days. Fast years."

I mentioned this to some of my friends who are also parents and they told me it would make for a great T-Shirt. Maybe one day i'll go down to the Mall and custom design that very saying on to a shirt.

I think I told this story before...

My daughter was acting up one day so I got frustrated and yelled out, "Anne! You're acting strident! Google that word!!"

To which she replied without missing a beat...

"Google I don't give a F...!"

lol!

She actually stopped short of dropping the F-Bomb...then we both burst out laughing.

I'm definitely saving this little story for her wedding day speech. ;)

I had a similar situation last year. Indeed, children make us softer.
Now my sons sometimes help me with apps and design.
Children's imagination works much better, and when I need to make some non-standard decision in a project, I can ask them. And I usually write down ideas.

"When tough little boys grow up to become dad's they turn into big babies again"

That's a lyric from a song called Tough Little Boys by Gary Allan, and it's the simple truth. Kids make your heart grow ten times it normal size, you love deeper and many of us guys experience emotions we didn't realize we had....like getting emotionally invested in Disney stories.lol. Who would of thunk it?

Hello!
Yesterday I had a situation where I needed help with singapore skyline and my son told me to just find this site and use it, he always does that for presentations at school. Sometimes they are smarter and more inventive than us
