Ramadan has begun

Spare a thought for any Muslim friends, neighbours or co-workers who are fasting during daylight hours for the next month. Fasting includes abstaining from drinking water, even during hot weather.

If you wish to be friendly, you might greet them with "Ramadan Kareem" or "Ramadan Mubarak". It would mean a lot.

Note - fasting during Ramadan is banned in China. China is not yet a liberal democracy by a long chalk
.

I've never fasted for religious reasons, only medical ones.
I imagine that a commitment to a whole month of fasting is quite a challenge.

Not pretty though
