Rat urine causing problems in NYC, spreading disease

I knew rodent feces responsible for many a disease but now rat urine is spreading a disease called leptospirosis. Apparently a bacteria that gets in through openings in the body including wounds. 24 cases last year a record and 6 this year. Starts out with flu like systems, can lead to organ failure.

I googled this disease, and it said that in 2023 there was a total number of 24 cases in humans. That's more than in other years, but hardly what I would call a pandemic. No need for panic.
