That’s a great trick that I’ve used more than once to transform a hodgepodge of curbside colonial into a comfortable room.

Shiny black, paper bag tan, etc…
 
I love watching shows that depict people renovating their old homes. One I liked was in country N.S.W. but they painted the interior of the house white. It looked like an operating theatre until they included furniture and furnishings. Well, did that home
come to life. The beautiful lounges were deep orange with beige carpets. Blues in the bathroom and the kitchen to die for. My own place, when I moved in was a sickly grey. My son being a painter asked me what colours I wanted and I immediately went into
my Arabic mode. Cinnamon on some walls, turquoise and Orange in the loungeroom and Orange, turquoise and Green in the bedroom with a lovely Orange Sari as a window drape. People say they couldn't sleep in such a bright room, but I love colours.
