Reflections of My Life

I took it easy today since I worked a lot yesterday and was exhausted and knees hurt. Today I did everything I had to do, early. Including cleaning the bunny cage. Then went out to the dumpster and took a short walk around to the front of the building and up the block a bit. Came back and watched reruns of Archie Bunker's Place. Colored while I watched.

I have learned that if I do too much one day, I must rest the next. Not that I am really tired but it is my knees that make me rest. It was fine with me, staying inside because it was hot outside. 84 degrees right now but I am cold in here and my air conditioner is not even turned up very high.

Tomorrow the chain link fence along the parking lot is being repaired so everyone had to remove their cars. Glad I don't have a car!

Today is the beginning of "Colorscape" which is a big (for our area) music and arts festival. There are booths going up as I write this for the vendors who sell their art. Music will be playing all day and some at the same time just in different areas. Since we have 4 parks right in the same area they make use of all that space.

I like the fact that I can go there for an hour or so and come back home for awhile then go back. It is like we are right in the center since they will be using our front lawn for various acts or classes. The Art Council is in our building so they usually have art classes for children in a tent out front. Then a magician and juggler has been out there a few years in a row.

The food trucks come from somewhere else and even though big lines are at each of them, I find them very expensive for me. The local restaurants are a better choice. I don't usually buy any food out anyway.

Colorscape sounds fascinating! Glad you are able to enjoy it!

@katlupe I guess you're partying at the festival. How exciting for you! I sure would be excited if it was at my front door, too. I hope you enjoy every minute!
Thank you, but today I didn't go there when it started. They start it off with music I think at night and I don't like to go out at night. I will be going tomorrow, early.

My day started off with the new neighbor who just moved in today (I think. I didn't even hear anyone going into that apartment) setting off her alarm in the bathroom. It is such a loud scary sound. One of the guys who lives downstairs came up and he was able to shut it off and reset it (but first when it went off it scared her and she fell off the toilet so he ended up helping her get up). It is so loud I was shaking because it surprised me and scared me at the same time.

How did he get into the apartment? Was she on the floor when he arrived? That must have been so embarrassing for her!

I went to Colorscape for a little bit but it was way too peopley for me. I used Jazzy and could barely get through the street let alone the sidewalk or the sidewalks through the parks. It is busy and has a lot of people. I went to the Grand Union to get more bunny food and the parking lot was full of cars that belong to the people at Colorscape.

Maybe I will go early tomorrow morning. This morning I just could not get moving along to get out there early. The east park has a band shell/gazebo type structure and the bands are playing there. That park is quite large and was full of people listening to the music, talking and eating.

The food smelled so good, but I know it is very expensive and not good for me. So I passed the food trucks by. There were long lines at all of them. One food truck had Doughnut Sundaes???? I don't know how people can keep eating those types of foods. And children.........they were standing in those lines too. Anyway, I came home and made Keto Chow ice cream, Irish cream, which is very good.

I can imagine how busy it is there during the weekend! Good idea about going early tomorrow morning. We've been having rain here. Hope you have good weather! I know what you mean about the scent of the food! It is typically expensive, as you state. I have learned to look away. I love my keto diet and wouldn't allow these diversions to upset me, either.

Every time I do give in to it, I regret it because it makes me feel so bad that I can't do anything till it goes through my system. It is not worth it. Now I have developed recipes that are so much better than those SAD foods.

I know you do Keto chow. Is there a recipe for the ice cream you make?
I make a Keto Chow shake and put it in the ice cream container for my ice cream maker (Ninja Creami) and let it sit for at least 24 hours. The next day put the container in the ic maker and that is all there is to it. I use melted butter for the fat needed for Keto Chow. You can use any basic keto meal replacement shake or find a recipe for it on YouTube.

The size of the serving on any keto ice cream or in a recipe is usually very small. With KC since it is a replacement meal, I can eat the whole pint container..........and I do. It is usually for lunch or supper (my 2nd and last meal of the day). It has one third of the nutrients needed for the day. No comparison to Ensure or Boost which are really bad!

Yesterday, being Rabbit's and my anniversary, fakebook was full of memories to share about that day and the days following. Many of my followers there are modern homesteaders who were reading my blogs (I wrote four of them back then, almost daily). So I could see they would be interested in him, but all my other friends as well, loved my posts about him. And still do. So a lot of good memories there yesterday.

This picture I took while sitting on my porch looking out over the paddock. He came out from under the ramp and he knew I was there but as long as I just sat there taking pictures he stayed. Could not get near him though. This was his first day at Peaceful Forest.

I feel like summer is over now, with the close of Colorscape for another year. It was the last big event I think, for my city. Last year in the fall they had a farmer's market on the week-end because this is the harvest time for gardeners. I remember canning all summer and fall. But fall being my tomatoes and winter squashes (acorn, hopi, butternut and buttercup). I was hoping they would have it again this year. Maybe.

Yesterday there were brown leaves all over the sidewalks. Of course, they were down due to rain and recent storms. Fall is really my favorite time of the year because it is cooler. Hot weather is just hard for me and has been so for a number of years now. I have become spoiled here since now I have air conditioning and fans. They make a difference.

There was a lot of people at Colorscape both days so I think they did really good. Now if people were buying things from the artists, I don't know. They are quite expensive and right now everything costs so much more that people might be cutting back. I am not buying anything extra that is not in my budget (including food that I don't cook personally). It was hard to navigate the sidewalks between the tents with a walker and especially with a mobility chair or scooter. So I watched the people from a distance.

The food trucks lined the street on the right. The tents were in this park and the one on the other side of the corner. Plus musicians and acts like puppets, jugglers and magicians were in different areas. Seems like a lot of work for two days to me.

I got my laundry done today. I have a new rule in place now to make this easier to manage (for me). If I have two nightgowns in the laundry hamper, then it is time to wash laundry. If I have more than two it is too much because it means I have other clothing too and it is piling up. Small loads are easier. Today I had Rabbit's blanket and the two sheets I use for steps for him to get into his cage. So along with the towels and my sheets it was too big....too much. 4 washers and 2 dryers.

So I found out today that it is definitely a fact that our building has been sold. Instead of getting upset like many people are doing...........I am thinking maybe it will be better for us. Maybe they will put money into fixing things that need to be fixed. Like the roof, the parking lot, the leaking cellar every time it rains..............the ELEVATOR! Just because a new company buys it doesn't mean they will be evicting us all for no reason. They are in business and need the apartments filled. I am not worrying about it till there is a reason to worry.

Wednesday evening I was washing dishes and talking on the phone to Sonny. One of my glasses, it is orange retro type.....tall with a narrow bottom. I use it for frothing the cream for my coffee in the morning. Well the cream coats the bottom of the glass even if I put water in it after using it. I was pushing the dish rag in the bottom to clean it and...POP!

It broke and cut my finger! I bled and quickly had to press it to stop it. Then put a band-aid on it. It looks like a skin tear type of cut but is deeper than that. Now I have to be careful with it and not put any pressure on that finger. Right near the bend in the finger so it is a pain in more ways than one.

I have a new goal.........not slouching in my chair at the computer. I try to sit straight up but then forget a few minutes later. Proper posture results in less back, shoulder and neck pain. I know this is true but it is also one of those things I do without thinking. I think I will put a post-it note on my computer to remind me.

Today I am going to go outside for my walk. I have not gone outside or for a walk in a few days. Been lazy I guess with the change in weather. Though I look forward to fall every year. My favorite time. Now I am planning on taking the bus to Walmart to shop and see if I get there and back on my own. I have not decided what day yet but hopefully as soon as the cool weather is more constant.
