Reflections of My Life

I do change position, @katlupe . Mine is a square one, so it is easy to stand in any direction on it, plus it has the little magnets that are also supposed to be healing.
When I stand sideways on it, the vibration is then forward and backward, and I feel that clear up my neck and face. It makes it much stronger than the sideways one, so it probably helps different muscle groups. I always hang on to something to stabilize my balance, but I actually think that i am starting to have better walking balance than I had before.
Sitting and putting my feet on it before bedtime warms up my feet and legs and takes out any stiffness in my feet before i go to sleep.

Poodle seems to like it , too, and he comes and stands by my feet at night and puts his paws on my knees, and sometimes he just stands on the plate. Sometimes, I hold him in my lap and pet him, and he loves all of that.
It is supposed to be excellent for pets, and I am glad that Poodle likes it.
I never heard of this. I'll have to check it out.

There is a room down on the lower level that has extra walkers and chairs but I don't want to use them. I will figure it out if I find I can manage going up and down the stairs first. I might just put my extra walker in my own locked storage locker and get it when I get downstairs. I will see.
Sorry you're in this predicament Kat. You are very resourceful so I think you'll figure out a solution, but I'd rather they fix the elevator! 🤗

If the elevator is going to be an ongoing problem it might be a good idea to get the tenants together and have a fire drill to make sure that everyone is able to navigate the stairs.
If there is a fire you are not supposed to use the elevator anyway. There is a sign on it that says that. I counted 6 people in the building who cannot use the stairs. I counted myself in that number. But I am going to overcome those stairs.

So I was worried about getting groceries. I have to use my UHC amount by the last day of the month and still had a lot left on it. So I just ordered groceries from Walmart. I changed my delivery instructions from meeting them at the front door in the lobby to them having to carry them up the stairs to my apartment. I will see if they will do that.

I used my vibration plate for 5 minutes today. Seated. Taking it slow and easy till I get I used to it. Then I walked a lap around my hallway. I will try for more laps throughout my day. I need more strength in my legs and that is what I am working on.

.. and those who can't navigate the stairs should have at least 2 people assigned to assist them.
In the case of a fire, we shouldn't use the elevator anyway.

Once you get past the first time, it will be easy, I bet.

Two people to assist them? That is not happening here. Nobody who works here is here very often now. So we are all on our own. You cannot use an elevator in case of a fire so we always head to the stairs when the alarm goes off.

Today I ordered the groceries from Walmart and the guy brought them right up to my apartment. He said it was no problem. So what I did was change the delivery directions on my account so it shows to ring the intercom and then come up the stairs after I open the door. One problem solved!

I wasn't thinking of employees of the building. I was thinking of the residents getting together and making a plan to keep everyone safe. Fire is not the only danger, there's earthquakes, etc

I would think the men would welcome such a challenge

Not the men here! They seem to be the ones who need the most help. As for myself, I will figure out what I need to do. I do not really like to rely on others if possible. I have to look out for my son and my bunny boy also.

Well, some way or other God sees me through miserable days. I called to cancel my foot doctor appointment that is for Wednesday. I was lucky who took the call because she is my friend and was the old manager here. So she and the doctor will be including me in their rounds of house calls on Saturday morning. So happy about that because I can't miss this appointment or else my nails will be soooooo long!

Well, wouldn't you know it? I cancel my doctor's appointment and make arrangements for him to come here...........and just now, the elevator repairman was here and it is now working! I am happy about that. Don't know what happened. Why did they say it would never work again and then fix it so quickly this morning? I am thankful for it. I believe God did it. I prayed for it to be repaired and to work safely and perfectly.

I am waiting to hear others using it just to be sure.

Kat, I'm so relieved that you have your elevator back, but I hope you do not forget your resolve to strengthen your legs and use the stairs.
Just a suggestion for another exercise:
Stand comfortably at the head of the stairs
Relax. Your eyes are half closed. You gaze upward at your farthest point
Now, taking your time, meditate:
There is a fire,
I smell the smoke, I see it
I hear people running toward me
I have Rabbit slung in a lightweight bag over my shoulder
We are comfortable. We are not afraid
I feel my strength rise as I breathe
I face the inner railing, take hold of the rail with both hands, gripping hard so that I cannot be dislodged by the crowd.
I descend one step, and return safely back up onto the landing.

Downstairs with a Walker Custom

The elevator worked for one day. And lazy me, I only did one load of laundry. I stayed downstairs while it was in the washing machine and then brought it up and hung it in my shower. I figured I would do one load a day until it was done..........I had FOUR to do! I got behind. I guess that is the curse of having too many clothes. I wear them all though so didn't want to throw any out. I should have done them all. As my neighbor did her laundry yesterday and she did it all. Good thing because by the end of the day...............

Sonny was leaving my apartment and when he pushed the elevator button it did not stay lit up. That was a sign. It had quit. And yesterday it was used a lot. Maybe it was too much for it. I had noticed the day before that it was slow. Slow to arrive, slow to leave, slow for the door to open, etc. So that is where I am today.

That is why when it is a nice day or the elevator works it is wise to get everything done at once as fast as possible. That is why I am also going to master the stairs and also get a doctor's appointment so I can hire an aide to help me. If I had one now I would have the help I need in getting things done.

Kat, I think that elevator is haunted by a very fresh ghost!
Well, I said a prayer and took a chance. When it stopped on my floor, the new maintenance man, Randy was on it. He rode down to the LL with me. He said it had a new part installed and it should work from now on.........dare I to hope????? Anyway, he is here today and so is the manager. So I did 3 loads of laundry! I told you I was way behind! So I stayed down in the laundry room and did my laundry and colored in my new coloring book. I was not taking the chance of being separated from my clothing. All done now and just cooked my 1st meal of the day (starving now).

I'm very glad that the elevator worked today, and with the maintenance and management people on site, too, you got 3 loads of laundry done. Great accomplishment!(y)
And in addition, you fit a little coloring in, while you accomplished it.

I enjoyed reading about your day.

OOPS! 🧐You hadn't eaten till after all of that? 😱😖 Yikes.😫

Well, you can eat for the rest of the week, now. Your laundry is caught up!😁

I love this post, and the other one from RR, that says to start with the stronger leg going upstairs, and the weaker leg first when going down.
I think I will adapt that meditation for some other challenges I face.
