Reflections of My Life

It was 39 degrees this morning when I got up. That is warm for us here. The crows are pretty active this morning. Rabbit hears them but they don't scare him.

Yesterday when I removed my compression stockings...........I was in SHOCK!!!!! My feet were not swelled up even a little bit. And I did not do my walk around the hall like usual. But I used my Vibration Plate and I am now up to 11 minutes on it. Using number 1,2, & 3 speeds. I start on the lowest one and increase every so many minutes. I am addicted to it now. It feels so good.

I still am not standing on it. But I feel the vibrations on my hands and arms by putting my hands on my knees and thighs while it is on. I do plan on standing on it eventually. Even holding the dumbbells in the future. Not yet. Tiny steps for me. One thing I do not want to do is to trip and fall. So I am extra careful.

I am constantly playing with my "eating window" (Intermittent Fasting). If I don't eat early enough in the day, I cannot get my food in. I am just never hungry at supper time (4 PM). Protein & fat is the key to keto or ketovore. You need more protein for healing. Your brain needs more fat (the right kinds). The problem with moving my breakfast up to ten is that people are knocking on my door for something or other. Maybe I should eat at 10 and then have my last meal at 3. I will see what I can do. I am often hungrier in the morning.

One thing I have learned since living in this apartment building is not to listen to what other tenants say. It is usually a rumor. Or made up by someone who does not like the manager. The rumor was that they did not have the money to repair things and one tenant had to buy their own toilet and take it out of their rent. I do not know if that is true or not. But the maintenance man was here yesterday to look at my leaking faucet. He turned off the water and then took it apart. Said I need a new faucet and he will get it ordered. The previous maintenance man never did that. He just ran the water and saw it leaking.......never saw him again.

I finally got Jeff's new computer up and running. I gave it to him yesterday and he was a happy camper. Then I ordered the equipment from Specturm for the internet and the phone. Not the mobile phone but the house phone (digital). He had it before in his other apartment. Today I will order a phone for him. Maybe now I can talk to him! Once his internet is on, I can finish setting his computer up to get him online. He wants me to set up a fakebook page for him. It is a hard job for me since I am not familiar with Windows but that is what he is used to. So I will do my best.

thankfully they're so much info on youtube to help you these days...:giggle:

I'm glad that the new maintenance person seems much, much better than the last one!👍

That's a giant job, that consists of lots of big jobs, that you are doing to get the entire system up and running for Jeff!

I hope he won't get too impatient to have it all completed. That's so much. He might not realize all that goes into it. 🤩

You are absolutely correct! I use it for everything. Just before I got on here I checked out how to get rid of the rash under my breasts..........tea tree essential oil & coconut oil! Both in my kitchen right now.

Lately all I watch is on YT. It has everything I like.

Today I have to walk to my hair appointment. When I first get up I can barely make it out of the recliner so I start worrying first thing. At least I didn't wake up to a dream about a bear chasing me today! Anyway now after having some of my coffee, I am feeling I will be able to walk to it. It is about 2 blocks away. Just hoping it won't be raining or snowing. I can walk in the cold but it is difficult in rain or snow.

But......I am looking forward to seeing how a longer walk will affect my swelling in my feet. I see it is down quite a bit and I am not sure what I am doing that is having that affect on it. I have been planning on increasing my walking as soon as our weather is decent. I miss walking in the parks and I used to do that several times a week.

Did I miss a post somewhere that @Ken N Tx made about not being here for awhile? Missing his posts on the good mornings and coffee corner. I pray he and his family are okay and just taking a break.

I hope that your walk goes well!

In addition to rain or snow, I also find it much more difficult to walk when it's windy outdoors. 😬🫨🫤
Which it is here, today and tomorrow.

I wonder about it where you are today, dear katlupe.

But I hope that you have a great day and enjoy having your hair done!🙂🥰🤩

I am here. Getting ready to leave at 11. My appointment is 11:30. Sun is shining right now but still flurries in the air. Looking forward to this today.

I thought he popped up in the "today" thread.

I didn't do much yesterday. Took it easy to rest my knee. Hopefully I will get things done today. Depends on the elevator and so far it sounds like it going good. So maybe laundry.

As I was firing my computer up I saw the beautiful pink sky! I had to go peek out the window at it. I know it is not a good sign (pink sky in morning, sailors take warning, pink sky st night, sailors delight.). My FIL used to say that. Still I love to see it in the morning more than at evening.

I did not know it was time to change the clocks. I thought it was next week. This really is my favorite time because it will be light later in the near future. I don't lose an hour of sleep over it. My sleep is not regulated by a clock. I sleep when I get tired.

The death of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, really creeps me out. The reason being that Betsy died of hantavirus, which is a virus you can catch from being around rodents........specifically mice. My previous home was an ongoing war with mice. They were everywhere. In the walls, in the root cellar, in the attic, in the pantry, in the kitchen, everywhere! I am thankful none of us (husband, son and me) ever got sick from it. When my husband took down the walls to replace them it smelled of mice urine. It was horrible! One summer I killed 17 mice in my pantry alone! Now going on 7 years without seeing one.......

I remember when we had a bread box lined with lead in one of grandmas cabinets. It was to keep the mice out of the bread. Old homesteads were a haven for mice.

Having a cat does not necessarily mean having a mouser.
That is true! I had 3-4 cats at one time. They killed mice like crazy outside. Sometimes inside the house too but not all the time. In a house mice can hide in places a cat cannot get to. They will watch a spot waiting for it but often the mouse goes a different direction. We even had them on our stove that I cooked on! I can't tell you how many nights my husband put a mouse trap on top of my gas stove. Fifteen minutes later we would hear the trap snap. :(

My son was sitting in the dark kitchen on his computer and he heard a mouse on the stove which was right next to him. He had a knife on the table and jumped up and stabbed it............on top of my stove!!! Where I cooked our food...... My husband told me later on after I moved from there that he heard a noise in the oven of the stove and opened it and found mice in there! Where cast iron skillets were kept! It was a nightmare for me for almost 20 years. I could not take it any longer.

I absolutely LOVE the Life Pro Vibration Plate! I have been using it for a little over a week now and my feet are not swollen. Not at all! The funny thing is that the compression stockings will cause them to swell up a bit but after I take them off they go back down. I am not wearing them so much now. I have some of those ankle socks, just regular white store bought kind. So I put them on when I have to wear my shoes. I can't stand my feet to be bare in a shoe unless it is a sandal.

I am still using it sitting down. I had gotten up to 11 minutes with a speed of 1-3. But the instructor on Life Pro's YT channel said not to overdo it. She said limit it to 5 minutes on 2-3 speed. I could use it for an hour! It just feels so good. This is the one I bought on Amazon. Mine is a mini model and they have many other kinds. This one works for me and I enjoy using it so it not something I dread. I keep it by the chair so all I have to do is plug it in.

I just talked to a friend on fakebook and she said she has Lymphedema also. She could not wear the compression stockings at all. So she got a vibration plate and has been using that instead. I would love to give up the compression stockings so going to test it to see if I can go without them for good now.

I forgot to tell you, the other night Sonny was making a roast pork loin in his oven. All of a sudden.........POW.......smoke everywhere and the oven door swung open! The corelle ware casserole dish he was baking it in exploded in pieces everywhere! He had a mess to clean up!

My cardiologist told me that instead of wearing compression socks , to get a tall regular stretchy sock, something like nurses wear or a man’s’ dress socks. He said that , besides being so hard to put on and take off, they squeeze the leg too much, and that the lighter sock with just a little compression would be more helpful for my leg and foot swelling.

I looked on Amazon and found a man’s dress socks that have some elastic, but not like a compression sock has. They are not quite knee-high, and are easy to wear.
They do help the leg and foot swelling.

I love my vibration plate, too ! I am using it every day, once or twice standing (but holding on to something for balance) and at night for 10 minutes sitting in my walker chair and just vibrating my feet and legs. When I use it, I can feel my legs are warmer, and that the circulation is better.
My husband has sciatica, and he said that sitting on the vibration plate helps that for him, too.

Could you put the link to those socks here? I just ordered the regular MediPed ankle socks today because I can wear them in my shoes. I am currently wearing a couple old pairs that were Sonny's. Something too thick would not be good in my shoes.

Today is beautiful! Sun is shining and warmer temps. I just got back from walking out to the dumpster. I would have taken a walk but I didn't want to miss Jeff if he came to my apartment. I checked the mail and it has not come yet. A bunch of people sitting in the lobby waiting for it. I talked to them for a little bit but don't want to miss Jeff so will go back down when I know my delivery has been delivered (new gel pens).

I have figured out how to hook Jeff up to Spectrum. So when he comes I think I will be going up to his apartment to do it. I know he will try to tell me that he can do it but he can't. He cannot read the directions and this is new equipment. I ordered him a wireless phone that will be here on Wednesday. Once he is online, I need to set him up with a gmail account and then fakebook. Being connected to Windows will make this the hard part. All kinds of things pop up and drive me nuts, but Windows is what he is used to. So I will take a deep breath and say a quick prayer. It will be done before I let him take over.
