As I started my walk around the park this morning, I took notice of the people I passed. Seems to me the people who we call homeless may not be homeless at all. I think it is a look they have, especially the men. The homeless carry backpacks or bags, men or women. The others I believe are the ones doing drugs and these are not the drugs of my youth. They are the drugs that can and do kill.

The individuals are very thin, scraggely looking, usually smoking a cigarette as they walk. The ones I followed this morning had two dogs on leashes so it crossed my mind that I was mistaken about them. No, they turned in on the sidewalk going to the patio on the back of the library. There were others there already. They sit there for hours doing their thing.

I do not look their way, just keep walking. I do not carry any money or anything else on me unless I am taking pictures. Then I would try to guard my camera but they have never approached me. Not even to ask for money. I am not afraid of them, just cautious. To tell the truth these people look weak and fragile. I am probably stronger than them.

I told my son to be careful around them since his apartment is right in the middle of where they all hang out. He said, "Mom, no one is going to mess with me." I asked why he says that. He said because he is 6'5" and they are afraid of him. He is not really a fighter but if he gets angry about something he could be.
You did good to notice those around you. Just be aware, they might approach you for money. I have had that happen to me when shopping at Aldi's, and now I avoid that store location! So be ready, in case you are approached. Also, if you don't already, you might want to carry a pepper spray or some form of self defense, just in case. You never know!

A lady who lives upstairs was just taken by the emergency squad to the hospital. Many times they come here but don't leave with anyone. Most times. They brought her out in a wheelchair and then had to transport her to the stretcher to put her on the truck. It was not easy because apparently one of her legs was injured and she could not put her weight on it.

It is another reminder to me to not give up on my health goals. Sometimes I think "why bother? I am already 71." But I need to remind myself to do what I can to improve myself. I do not want to ever need drugs or much of anything else they can offer me. I do have pain in my knees but I sit somewhere (usually right here at my computer) and do something else to get my mind off it. The most pain I get is when I have to stand in place for more than a few minutes. Like when I run into someone I know and end up talking to them.

My feet swell up from the Lymphedema, especially in hot weather. Which is why I don't really like summer so much. Hot. I deal with it as you all know. As long as I am aware of it and don't overdo I am doing fine with that on my own. I have stopped going to the Lymphedema therapist. It was too far to go to and I was only going about every 4 months or so.

Fall is in the air here now. I can smell it. I can see it. Leaves are falling. It was 50 degrees when I got up this morning......

Yesterday Sonny took me to do my errands, which included going to Walmart. I desperately needed spring mix for Rabbit but they did not have what I needed. Most of the time lately, maybe due to the season, they stuff it with spinach. So I either pick out all the spinach (and throw it away) or don't buy it. Yesterday I went to Price Chopper and got something different. He will not eat the spinach and it is not good for him either (or me otherwise I'd eat it myself).

I haven't bought ice cream in a long time at Walmart but I was hot and thought maybe. I went down the aisle and could not believe it..........the containers have gotten a lot smaller. They looked funny on the shelves. Like they were not real or toys. I decided not worth the money or the ingredients. Half of them now are not real ice cream but call it something else that I can't think of right now.

Anyway, I decided not to shop just got Rabbit's greens and cream and Sonny will take me during the week. Too peopley in there!

The store owners along the downtown area went to an emergency meeting with the city officials concerning the work being done on the road and water mains that are being replaced. From my understanding of this work is that these water mains and pipes are over a hundred years old and need to be replaced.

Now I have learned that after they do all this work this year, they have to come back next year and dig down under the roads AGAIN to replace the septic system and piping under the road. Then they can repave the main street through town. The stores are hurting bad because there is no drive by traffic.

One new restaurant is struggling to stay open and is basically empty. The Italian restaurant that sells pizza by the slice and is usually busy at lunch time is empty at that time. The results of the emergency meeting is that the work crews have to be done by the end of this week........yet the corner is still dug up and you cannot even walk to it to cross the street.

Not sure how this is going to turn out.

Same thing happens in our little local town.. they block the roads off to traffic, and the shops suffer, and can't afford to pay the already extortionately high rents.. and ultimately eventually have to close down , so in truth we have a transient town centre.. where last year one store might have been a hair salon, today it's a bar... and so we've eneded up with hardly any shops of worth, and a bunch of bars, coffee shops and nail salons

usually I get delivery from Walmart but went there early because I was out of eggs so not to crowded.and yes I did notice the containers were smaller.but I did splurge and got a pint of Breyers low carb mint choc chip.it was so good !
My go-to ice cream is Rebel. It has three servings, very low carb, and I like the peanut butter and chip flavor. Just enough to take the craving away. Lasts me three days.

I make my ice cream with Keto Chow which is a keto meal replacement meal that is very good. They have a variety of flavors but I must say peanut butter is one of my favorites.

Yesterday Sonny took me back to Walmart. Not so busy. So today after my neighbors all are up and about I will be vacuum packing the ground beef and chicken I bought. At the entrance to Walmart, I saw the guy who lives downstairs sitting in his mobility chair holding his hat out for people to put money in. I did not see anyone stopping. It was hot.......87 degrees when we drove by the bank on our way there.

So he drives his chair (which is like my Jazzy but not in the best shape) all the way there which is 2.5 miles away. I would be nervous to drive Jazzy that far and I have fairly new batteries. Then he sits in the hot sun all day with bottles of soda (plastic bottles in the hot sun). I would not think he makes enough money to warrant all that hot sun.

Today I am not going anywhere. Just spending the day cleaning and organizing my apartment. I have been doing good not accumulating clutter lately. I do have a small pile of papers to go through.

Rabbit rarely......if ever lies down flat. Lots of bunnies flop down on their sides or stomach with their feet out to sleep. Not my little bunny boy! Maybe because he was picked up by an owl but he is cautious. The other night..........this is how sleepy he was, he could not hold his head up!

Yesterday, I was on my feet a lot. Standing in one place is never good. I vacuumed packed ground beef and chicken thighs. Wouldn't you know that I get to the last two of chicken and they won't vacuum? I ended up wasting the plastic wrap because I tried to do them again. I figure it is not any different than a ziploc freezer bag so just put them away in the freezer. I will use those two first.

Before I did that though, I vacuumed my apartment. Floor and furniture. Moving it around and I turn the chair and recliner upside down and get underneath the best I can. Then I tried something stupid. I opened the recliner up so the foot thing was out and then tried to get in it like that. Just to see if I could (since I cannot open it when I am sitting in it).

Nope, it almost went over.........I acted quickly to keep myself up and not on the floor. I have never fallen and I would hate to need help to get up for something stupid I tried to do on purpose.

Anyway just that little bit of work used up my energy for the day. Lucky that I had leftovers for supper already made.
