Reflections of My Life

Yesterday I was busy so didn't make it here except to put my good night up. Sonny stopped by.......twice! He had to come to Norwich to the county office building and I am just a block away. Then he went to the store and the ATM machine for me. When he returned he had brought us a lunch from Arby's but I would not eat it. He ate his and took the rest home for Cinnamon (his dog). I know he feels like if he brings food that he has to buy me some too but he also knows I will not eat it. No matter if I am hungry or not. I was not hungry though as I had eaten my breakfast.

Later in the day I did get some time with our manager. I ran into her on the elevator. We had a nice talk and today Jeff and I have to go down to her office for him to get re-certified. I will have to drag him down there but he has to be there.

I have been getting my walk in. Still only one lap so far. This morning I will be walking out to the dumpster because I never made it out yesterday. With a bunny for a pet your garbage accumulates. At least half a bag daily. I ordered groceries for Jeff earlier and they are coming between 10 and 12.

I have a feeling our maintenance man is almost gone........as soon as he can be replaced. He avoids calls from the manager and his job is supposed to be an on call job. If something breaks in someone's apartment he is supposed to come here immediately. Now he says his truck is broke down which is BS. And everyone knows it. It is his responsibility to find a way to work regardless. He has no enthusiasm for the job and would never go out of his way to fix or help anyone.

While I was in the manager's office she was trying to find someone to fix a toilet in one of the other buildings. And the lady upstairs has no heat for some reason and her refrigerator is leaking. Of course the maintenance man is supposed to take care of those jobs and if he can't he is supposed to get a contractor here that can. I miss our last one.

It snowed a bit during the night........more than a bit, actually a lot. It has been plowed and the sun is shining presently. I am going to have to go outside in it no matter what. Did not make it out to the dumpster yesterday so I have a big bag of garbage to take out. Not putting it off today. I don't have any boots since I have not needed any living here. Maybe I should buy a pair just in case. Of course, once I do that it will never snow again and I won't need them.

Yesterday I wrote out my budget sheet for February. I am making it another "no spend" month. I like doing that. It is like a game to see how little money I can spend. If it is something I routinely buy, like toilet paper, Rabbit's hay or chew sticks.......then it is in the budget already. Since I do not own a house or a car emergencies for me are very rare. Of course I have benefits living here like cheap rent, no utilities, SNAP & now the UHC card. So it makes living on a very low income easier.

I have been paying down some debt I have and there is a light at the end of the tunnel now. For me it is the result of having been a stay at home mom. Just because a husband makes a lot of money (in his own business) it doesn't mean he shows it (especially if he, like my first husband, is an accountant!).

Today happens to be my 27th Anniversary. Even though I am not living with my husband and only saw him briefly this year when he fixed my computer we are still married. So we don't hate each other. I think if he had agreed to move from there to this small city we would still be together. Could have sold that property and got a house here. I miss having my own house and yard but I am quite content here in my apartment. At least here I do have other people in my life which I did not before here. I do not regret it one bit. Easier for me at my age and with my mobility issues.

Hope you all have a wonderful day & stay warm!!

I am getting ready to get off the computer for the night. Rabbit is in position watching me so I have to hurry. I am totally exhausted tonight. I did make it out to the dumpster even though there was a lot of snow and slush. I made my way through other people's path. Then I did two large loads of laundry. In between I cleaned the bunny cage. I used to do a lot more work than that and now I just get worn out so fast. I can't believe it. I just cannot take a nap in the daytime. No matter if I try. And since I sleep good at night I don't want to upset my routine. So many people I know cannot sleep at all.

You all have a good night!

Blood pressure spiked, went to ER but it took three days to escape. Three days without a window or sunlight was the worst but not serious enough to be admitted which left me at the end of a dark corridor. Sunlight does so much for us!
Are you okay now? I know what you mean about sunlight. I miss it. Though I have been getting sunshine a bit but it is too cold and messy to enjoy it outside. It always brightens my mood. Praying for you to feel better and be well.

Hi Katlupe, patients with a normal admission to the hospital get a room with a window and bathroom. Since I wasn't released from the ER, I had to stay near them in a room at the end of a dark hall, but I did have a community bathroom. It was heartbreaking to see how many older and really sick patients where in the ER so I had no right to complain.

However, when I finally escaped, the sunshine on my face was the best medicine for my soul. In my area, people with "advantage" health plans (according to the hospital website) have priority over traditional Medicare patients so we get to move quickly to the back of the line for anything. I will see the cardiologist next month for him to tell me the same old thing...hurry up and wait.

Please pray for the families of the ones lost in Arlington, VA yesterday.

I think I couldn't give up any dog IF we fostered any.

I cried over the first litter of Boston Terriers we had.
Husband told me "If you can't sell them,, we aren't breeding our pair again."

We did go ahead & have 3 litters, till our mother dog had an accident.
I agree. I wouldn't be able to either. Plus I could never raise any animal for food. I eat meat and I know where it comes from. But I could not raise it myself.

Today I have some little jobs I want to get done. I have been staying in my apartment most days lately. It seems to me when people gather to talk anywhere they just complain about something or someone. I avoid those conversations. I guess I am complaining myself right now. Sorry about that. I do check my mail if something is coming (but I know that ahead of time thanks to "USPS Informed Delivery"). I have been doing my walk plus going out to the dumpster.

Quite a few years back a lady pastor I was friends with said her house was her sanctuary. The place where she felt safe from the world. I have tried to do that here and think I have. People come here to get help or advice about something. But nobody comes here to argue or fight with me. Jeff is quiet and if he gets mad at me for something (which he does) he leaves fast and doesn't say anything.

That is why I sometimes take breaks from social media. It is not just politics but other subjects also that people get heated up over. I don't worry about other people's opinions on subjects I care about. I guess I live in my own world here inside this little apartment. My favorite place to be.

I had to remove the doggie pad that I had on the new rug runner for Rabbit. I noticed he was getting some hay off it but not laying on it or staying on it for long. After I took it off last night and put the hay right on the runner I saw he was laying on it. He loves that runner. It is really soft. I think he likes it even better than the little fleece blankets. Bunnies are such amusing pets!

Well I may not have solar or wind power for my home now, but I certainly have passive heat! The sun was shining in and Rabbit was sleeping with the sun on his face. He was in a deep sleep so it must have felt good. Then I walked out to the dumpster and it was windy and bitter cold?? I didn't even wear my hat because I didn't think it was that cold. Then I sat in the lobby with some of my friends and talked a bit. Found out our maintenance man had quit on Friday. I said, "Quit doing what?" They all got a big laugh out of that one. I was serious.

Today was my errand day. Sonny picked me up and we got everything done. Went to Walmart and did my grocery shopping in person. Which was nice. My freezer and refrigerator is packed full now. I hadn't eaten so I just had some scrambled eggs and sausage. Probably won't have anything else later. Maybe just a Zevia.

This morning I ordered a laptop for my son. Since the manager had made a mistake and over charged him on his deposit he only had to pay $138. for his February rent. I took the opportunity to buy a computer for him. I know he needs something to do upstairs in his apartment. It has Windows 11 and I will figure out how to set it up for him. He thinks he knows how to do it.........but I know he doesn't. When he moved to his previous apartment my husband did it for him. He just does not remember. He thinks he knows everything but then if he messes it up he will be coming to me to fix it.

I have been learning more about my photo program so I can add more fonts to it. I like to make my own memes but just do not like the fonts that are on the program. I am half way there though. So once I started doing that I have decided to dig deeper and learn more about my program. It is fun to do that with my own pictures.

Now I have a bunny cage to clean.........

Today I am expecting my new toilet riser to be delivered. The one I have been using for the past couple of years or so is hard to clean. It sits right on the toilet bowl. The new one is on a frame with handles and I hope I like it better. It can be moved out of the way easily if someone is here and needs to use the toilet and does not feel comfortable sitting on the riser. Or when I want to clean the toilet. I am looking forward to this so hoping it was the right one to order.

I think I might have to teach my friend how to use her phone to search with Google. She called me yesterday while I was shopping wanting to get the phone number for the grocery store. I told her to put it in Google and it would come up. She said her phone does not have Google. I am sure it does. I am not up on using the phones for much more than talking or checking the weather every day but I can get my email or search with Google on it. Sometimes you have to bring people kicking and screaming to learn how to use the internet. Then they love it!

kat,

If the riser doesn’t work for you consider these safety rails that mount using the holes for the toilet seat.

They give good support to help sit/stand safely and don’t complicate cleaning.

The one I bought does not work for me. I am going to stick to the original one I bought but just buy a new one to replace the old one. The frame on the new one has a bar across the front and is in the way.....(urine would get on it). Plus it has a seat and does not feel as sturdy as the hard plastic one I already have.

This is the one I have right now and think I will stick with it. I don't really need the handles. The one I have already came with handles but I never used them on it. What I need is the height because the toilet is too low.

Yesterday I put the new one all together and didn't like it. So took it all apart and have it packaged ready to ship back.

Kat. That’s exactly like I one I got for Thelma when she had her knee replacement. I did put the handles on for more support.

Yesterday I walked to the copy store where they accept Amazon returns. Stupid me! I did the wrong return and had to bring my package back home and cancel that return and do another one. So I have it ready to take back but cannot do it today. Can't walk that far two days in a row. Plus it depends on the weather. Sounds like it may be raining or snowing. I might just hold onto it until my hair appointment on the 14th since that is on the same block.

Then I vacuumed and cleaned Rabbit's areas. He is so funny! If I make any changes in it, he has to smell it all over. Even a tiny change. Nothing gets past him. I try to make it easier for me to keep clean plus put down clean blankets.

Made a keto chicken soup for supper. Instead of noodles I cut strips of an egg white wrap and put them in the hot soup. They have a spongy feel to them but they were okay. Not exactly like a noodle but I do what I have to do.

We have a new maintenance man! I am excited about this because I met him yesterday. He was cleaning the lower level laundry room and hall. I know he will work out because he is an older man. Going to have a clean building again!

My son's in-laws guest bathroom has raised seat. Wish I had one, not getting one though, don't really need it, just like it.

My toilet is super low. I don't know why they replaced my original toilet with one so low because it not good for a disabled person.
