Reflections of My Life

Right! Sonny was so mad. He cares more about dogs than anything.
I’d be mad also. I probably would have waited until the guy came out. We bring water for our dogs when we take them in the car for all seasons. We find they pant a lot more while they are in the car so need more water.

@katlupe how on earth do you guys not die in those apts with no a/c? why won't the manager turn it on?

sorry you lost your friend dear lady.
The apartments can have air conditioning if you have it put in. Window units. Which most have. It is the halls and public rooms that do not have any. Discourages social time for some people. Not me, I stay in my apartment most of the time unless I have something I have to do.

Thank you, Marcie. I am getting used to her not being across the hall. We used to talk almost daily.

I did my laundry today. It was quiet and I did not see one person while down there. I colored while waiting for my machines. Had 3 loads so took awhile. It probably was good to give Rabbit a break from me. :)

I don't know if it is funny or not, but it is weird (instead of funny) that us older people are trying to get rid of our stuff (or clutter). And all those young homeless people are trying to collect stuff. Honestly, some of it is just trash they get out of the dumpsters. Maybe we should just give it to them. It is just that I am one of those strange women who really loves her stuff. I don't really want to part with it. But I have no one to give it to after I die. I am just hoping I live long enough to figure out what to do with it.

I know, I know.....what you are going to say.........it is just things. Just like the homeless people who love their things too. I think in the end we are all the same. But to be honest, I use most of my things.

The things that mean the most to me have absolutely no value to anyone other than me.

I hope that the few useful things that I have can be given to anyone that needs and appreciates them but I’m finding that most people have the basics and prefer new to hand me downs.

Times have changed since I was starting out, I accepted hand me downs and many items off the curb. 😉🤭😂

I am one of those people who saves things but uses them. I don't think I care for modern designs so much. I like that "homey" look and feel. I don't think my things are very valuable to others either. Everything has sentimental value to me.

I think there are those who prefer things and those who prefer experiences, and generally invest their money in one over the other. I prefer things.

Well, I never thought about that so I must prefer things because I prefer being home. I have had experiences but I would rather just be at home. Every vacation I have ever gone on I always could not wait until the day I could leave to go home. I know, I am strange. :)

Wow. This is exactly what I have been thinking about lately. I picture what would happen to my stuff when I am gone. I, like you, hope "I live long enough to figure out what to do with it." I have tried in the past few years to donate 2-3x annually to GreenDrop, who come and take several bags of clothing, shoes, linen, books, etc. for the Purple Hearts Veterans. However, there is hardly a dent in the stuff I have.

I'm the same way.

I think I can't keep up with all the posts on this forum. I try to read every comment and most of the time I am pages behind. Then I get to the point where it is impossible to read them all. :(

A lady that I follow on YT, Plain Vanilla Grandma, has had a horrible thing happen to her. She lives on a low income (not as low as mine though) and lives in subsidized housing. She has a problem with her memory so has all her bills on auto pay so that she is not late with any payments. Well, her rent payment of $853. was taken out but it was doubled. Not taken out twice but double the payment. She does not even get that amount of money from her SS and her pension.

I would just die if that happened to me. At the rental office they said it was not their fault so they called the corporate office and they said the same thing. They tried to say she changed the amount of the rent. Nope, she did not. She sent them a screen shot of it. Now they say it might have been the company they use for payments. I say whatever happened, cancel the payment and let her send them a check. But no, they are saying they will give her a rental credit.

I think what will happen is her payment will be "insufficient funds" with a fee. Plus her rent has a charge of $75 if it is late. And what about the other bills that are on auto pay? It is a nightmare and they will not help her. :(:( That is exactly why I do not do any auto payments. It would screw up your whole life.

Wow, I finally had the ability to add my new updated credit card and debit card to my Walmart account. For days, it would not take it. I thought it was me. Then saw it was a thing that was happening with their site for months. Lots of people were searching for an answer. Of course, you cannot talk to a person at Walmart. They are way worse than Amazon. I can usually get a human on Amazon eventually. Today it just went through like nothing was ever wrong.

My next problem was that my friend came here yesterday and I was not in a good frame of mind for shopping for her at Amazon. I was in the middle of cleaning out my browser. Of course, she had no idea what I am talking about. I managed to place her order for her new flip flops. She ordered the same ones a couple of months ago and loves them so wanted another pair.

I did that and she left..........then I realized a few hours later that I don't think I checked on the size. Nope, I did not. Ordered size 11 for her! So today I had to talk with the seller and arranged for a return when they get here. But ordered the size 7 for her now so they will be here on Saturday. That seller sure shipped fast. Within a couple of hours it had already been shipped.

While I am writing this I got a notice on my door for apartment inspection tomorrow afternoon. Fine, no problem with that. My apartment is always clean unless I made a mess in the kitchen while cooking. Not doing that very often now.

Made a double batch of chaffles for the freezer. Just finished that and washed the dishes. Now thinking about supper or whatever meal it is. I only had 4 slices of cheese today. So I better cook something.

Outrageous NSF bank charges and $75 late fees for rent are examples of victimization of the poor, who can't defend themselves.
There are free attorney services for seniors, and ombudsmen, and state officials who may help. And GoFundMe. If anyone ever deserved assistance, it is your friend!

She is a very depressed woman and cannot deal with the whole issue. She said she will get by. Her daughter helps her but she is depressed too. Where I live we have 10 days to pay our rent but I believe if we are still late there is no late charge. At least not yet.

I am working on organizing my apartment better...........yes, again! The weirdest things make me happy these days. The new garbage can and hamper started me off. Today my new dish drainer is supposed to be delivered. The one I have been using since I moved here is too small and worn out. Ugly now! So I got a bigger one and got an extra silverware caddy for it. I changed the side I will use it on. The area on the right is just too small. I find myself getting annoyed with it. I am right handed so it will be a learning curve to get used to it on my left. I don't really need all that counter space for preparing my meals since I cook small now.

Then I ordered a box of hanging files for my file cabinet. The ones I have I have had for years and then are falling apart. So I am going to go through my file cabinet and get rid of whatever I do not need. So that is my plan so far.

This afternoon I will be having my apartment inspection. I can only think of one thing I need fixed. The molding around the bottom outside of the shower is coming off. I was planning on filling out a work request for that but now I can just show it to him.

Getting hot.......just turned on the ac.
