Reflections of My Life

Waiting for Sonny to get here. Turns out his doctor appointment is tomorrow not today. So he is getting blood work right now and will be here as soon as that is done. I think we will go to Walmart even though I do not feel like shopping. But it is cheaper if I get my own groceries. Don't have to give myself a tip.

Yesterday when I came home I wrote out the money orders for the rents and took them down to the manager's office. While I was there one of the guys came in and told her the elevator is acting up. So she called maintenance and he will check it and then call the elevator repair company. So today I am staying in my apartment, I think. Not planning on getting stuck in it or not being able to get back to my floor. I would rather be stuck in my apartment than outside of it.

The boxes of food from the Food Bank of Central NY came today. I order it for Jeff and I ordered it for Sonny this time. I can't eat the kind of food they send but he can. He has been having a struggle lately with food so I figure this is the food they give out to senior citizens and he is one. It is all in the my freezer and refrigerator. I told him he better come get it as soon as he can so he might come and get it today. It is just too much for my refrigerator.

This time the boxes were packed and with good stuff. Not outdated food like at the food pantries. Frozen fruits, vegetables, ground turkey, 2 bags of frozen pierogis and a package of frozen pizza rolls. The other box was packed with produce. All good and a variety. Not the usual outdated wimpy stuff!

So even though I had no plans to get dressed and leave my apartment today, I did. It was the least I could do for Sonny. He does so much for me.

We have troubles with the elevators at work all the time. We have 4 guys in Kansas who work on the Otis elevators. Four guys for the entire state. And apparently getting parts is a pain in the neck. Takes forever. We've had one elevator down for 3 yrs now. The other one broke down that was next to it and it's been out of commission for a month now.

I think it's nice that you and Sonny help each other out.

Have a good day sweet kat ๐Ÿค—

A cold 0 degrees here this morning. Still dark so I don't know if it snowed or not. I heard the snowplow here but couldn't tell if he was plowing or salting. The garbage truck was just here and didn't appear to have any trouble. Turned my heat up but I am bundled up including a knit hat to keep me warm. I always say I am going to cut down on coffee but then I need more when it is so cold.

One thing I will say about a wood stove, when you get up on a cold morning it might be freezing in your house. But add a few logs to the ashes in the stove and open the damper and in a few minutes your room is getting warm. Not so with electric. For one thing you try to keep it down as much as possible because it is so expensive. Of course, logs are not cheap either. Whether you cut them yourself or buy them. Chainsaw chains, mix and gas have to be bought too.

Everything is about money, money, money.

Mornings like this we used to heat the oven and open the oven door, itโ€™s frowned upon now days and considered dangerous but it didnโ€™t seem to hurt us.

It is up to a whole 9 degrees now! The sun showed its face!

Remember when I mentioned getting rid of my African Violets? Well they started blooming like crazy. They are both here on my computer table and I need to get a picture of them. Big green leaves and lots of flowers. Must be they are trying to tell me not to get rid of them.

I'd love to see them.

Our African Violets are blooming now too .. in fact, whenever we had any, they always bloomed in winter.

Enjoy them!

I love African violets, and I tried getting small starter ones, at a few different times,
but โ€Šnone of them did well in my care.๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I'm good with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, but not all,
and definitely Not those!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„

I never was either. Until I got these from my father. He was a wonderful gardener and could grow anything.

I have to laugh............the couple who live next door to me have a "tortie" cat. Every time they open the door she gets out. Then the husband tries to catch her in the hall. He uses a very stern voice telling her to "come here" or "get over here". Of course, her being a cat, that is not what she will do. He has to corner her in front of my door. I hate to be a "know it all" but cats have to be lured in a way that they think it is their idea.

My cats were indoor outdoor cats and spent most of their days outside. When I called them to me they usually came and I did not have to carry them in the house. They would follow me. I made them come in before dark due to wild animals around us. Here of course, there are no wild animals. If I had a cat here, I think I would give it some free time in the hall every day. Just to let them run and explore. Where are they going to go?
