I believe there is a difference between "going bald" and "shaving your head". As we men age and begin losing our hair, that is a natural/genetic long term event. Any person who is balding... or chooses to shave their head... is much more susceptible to sunburn and exposure to UV rays. Genetically, I still have a complete head of hair at almost 70 years old. My dad and paternal grandfather had full heads of hair up until they passed... in their 90's. OTOH, my Mother's side of the family went bald really early and my 33 year old son is already completely bald.
Reading the latest John Sanford "Prey" novel. The "hero", Lucas Davenport, has a run in with an over-aggressive security guy with a shaved head. Davenport tells him his head looks like a "whorehouse doorknob". Working many years in and around the construction industry, have seen many with shaved heads and lots of "ink".
