Remember Blood Sweat and Tears? Did you know the band was basically forced by the US State Department and Tricky Dickie to tour behind the Iron Curtain in communist Russia, Yugoslavia, Poland etc during the Cold War resulting in the band losing all credibility in the US and their fans.

Abbey Hoffman called the band Blood Sweat and Bullshit creating an incident in concert when cow dung was thrown on stage and landed on a drum. The band played on with cow dung bounces to the beat of the drum.
The US tried to revoke the lead singers green card and deport him back to Canada, but a deal was made on behalf of the US government that Blood Sweat and Tears would tour behind the Iron Curtain

. So sad, Blood Sweat and Tears was a great band that was one of the first bands to perform with a horn section.

In 1969 whenever my high school track team ran out from the field house onto the athletic field our public address announcer played BS&T’s “Spinning Wheel” over the loudspeakers. We were terrible, our ‘wheels’ were definitely spinning.

Funny, was thinking recently about why I never hear their music anymore. I was never a fan, but I have not heard their music in decades and I listen to Classic Rock every day. What made you think of them @Mr. Ed? I don't think I ever knew before how tricky dick used them. Don't think, but I forgot a lot of stuff. For example, your Abbie Hoffman story. Paid Abbie, who was a neighbor, a lot of attention so I must have known this story, but can't remember. What I disliked so much about this band WAS their horn section. Ugh. I had forgotten this was why I was never a fan.

from wikipedi:

"The band went on a United States Department of State-sponsored tour of Eastern Europe in May/June 1970.[3] Voluntary association with the U.S. government was highly unpopular with "underground" rock fans at the time, some of whom engaged in radical politics. The band was criticized for allowing itself to be co-opted.[3] It is now known that the State Department subtly pressured the group into the tour in exchange for a U.S. residency permit to Clayton-Thomas,[3] who had a criminal record in Canada, and had been deported from the U.S. after overstaying his visa.[7] The tour and its aftermath is the focus of a 2023 feature-length documentary titled "What the Hell Happened to Blood, Sweat & Tears?"[8]"

I like blood, sweat & tears; especially the horn section. Chicago is another band with a great horn section. Both bands are very tight which takes a lot of practice.
