Remember Pearl Harbor

The invasion and decimation of Iraq under the false guise of "weapons of mass destruction" springs immediately to mind.

Pearl Harbor was a terrible tragedy, no question about it. I visited the Arizona Memorial and was deeply moved by the loss of life and unprovoked, unexpected attack we suffered.

I'm merely saying that the take-away lessosn from that should not only include hardening our defenses, but also not foisting that kind of heartache on people in other countries.

Iraq accused the United States and Israel of deliberately weakening Iraq by encouraging Kuwait to reduce oil prices. When Iraq began to threaten Kuwait early in July 1990, the United States staged maneuvers in the Gulf to warn Iraq against taking military action against the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

I'm withdrawing from this discussion with apologies to anyone I may have offended. As Rose pointed out quite correctly, this was neither the time nor place for my comments.
