Yeah, I had forgotten about the sticking to the tray..Plus, you got maybe one whole ice cube out of the tray. Half of the ice stuck to the tray, broke into pieces, fell on the floor...................I remember that you didn't want to reach into the freezer compartment for one with wet hands or your fingers would get stuck to it.
Yep, never did like them.Remember these ice trays ?
One word of caution about the ice maker type fridge.......The hose that supplies the water needs to be cleaned at least once a year with a germicide , otherwise mold can grow in it, making you sick. JimB.I’ve known and used those metallic trays with icebreaker handles. My mother had an ice cube tray of hard plastic that required warm water to be run over it if flexing or thumping it alone wouldn’t pop the cubes out. Not everyone would refill the tray after use, so sometimes you’d go for ice, and only find two cubes in it!
With my last refrigerator purchase, I sprang for one with a built-in ice maker. A more costly purchase, but one I’m glad I made!
Me either. I gave mine away years ago because I hardly ever used them.I have two in a cabinet somewhere. I never use ice these days.
I do the same thing. The icemaker still works but the well water corroded the water connection in the back and floods the floor so I pour filtered water into the ice maker and let it do its thing. We don't use much ice so when I have company I make ice with filtered water and store it in a ziplock.
I have plastic ones now and like them. I have no problem getting ice out of the ones I bought
What brand do you have? I've tried several of the plastic and silicone ones and no matter how much twisting, can only get about 2 cubes at the most to come out. The other cubes will only come out by running water on them for a long time and then that melts away some of the cubes.I like our plastic trays, a quick twist and the ice cubes come out easily. We seem to use a lot.
