I'd find that almost as annoying as going into a McD's and trying to eat the garbage they call food!
Yes, well I must admit to having worked at a McD's during college. It was real food back then, no pink slime or chemicals, but nevertheless far from healthy.
At any rate, I will give them their props on one this - that McD's was so clean you could practically have eaten off the floors. Cleanliness was emphasized
über alles, from the corporation to the franchise owner to the person who emptied the trash cans into the dumpsters.
In those days the McD corporation frequently sent out undercover inspectors. They'd order, eat, rate the freshness and flavor of the food, and rate whatever crew they observed, plus the appearance of the parking lot, dining room, and anything else they could observe from the public area.
After eating, they'd go up to the counter, request to see the manager, announce themselves, and break out the clipboard. The manager had to tour them through everything - freezers, office, grill area, everything. They showed up when we were slam-a-jammed at high noon, ten minutes from closing, and times in between.
Stakes were high - heaven forbid a franchise fail inspection. Do so repeatedly and the corporation had the right to yank the franchise from the owner. I don't know how it works now, but back then no McD's had ever been closed by a health department. The corporation had far more frequent inspections and way more stringent standards.
