Greetings! Prematurely introducing myself without even viewing anything here. The categories offered seem interesting.

Please be aware! Am a rough old coot! imp

Ummmm, (gulp). Not complaining, but curious, does everyone/some/few/none accept email notifies of answers to one's OPs?

Oh, and thank you kindly! imp

My other forum attended, FWIW, surprised me in several new ways, few of which were admirable. Perhaps folks here will "clue" me early on, of similarities existing with this one. (I am currently "banned" from the other!).

Moderators there are for the most part, also Seniors, like myself, the most, let's say, "notorious" one, being a retired u.S. Navy Big Brass type: accustomed to being in charge, resisting others who fail to "obey", in other words, far from impartial. OK, that I can live with. Rules must be accepted BY ALL, right? Then, over time, come to find that much "double-standard" favoritism is played, between Moderator and "pets". OK, that I can also live with. Then, come to learn, the forum solicits donations from it's members, voluntary, of course! Next, the most disagreeable, sour, alienated member, disliked with no hidden certainty, is purportedly a heavy contributor to the forum! Getting the picture?

It's run like a political "machine"! OK, then, I can even live with that, though after being a member of quite a few forums, and fairly "sure of myself", (ha, that's a laugh!), I could see that definite patterns exist in most forums, where "group" friendships develop as a natural consequence of the very concept of forum-membership, thus creating what I called "cliques" devoted to certain topics. BAD choice of comparative words! For using "clique" to describe our group of 10 or so, I was miserably berated; why, I still cannot fathom. My response, which went unanswered, was, should I have rather used the word, "fold"?

Now, having endured my initiation "right" of introduction here, do similarities to what I described above, exist here, to any degree?

Thanks for persevering through this diatribe of mine! imp

IMP while I'm a very junior member here, just a word of friendly advice as you sound so angry. Ready? Here it is ...just get over it, whatever it is (?). Rather than bring issues, use this site to leave the baggage behind, new site, new friends. Peace!

Here is why you responded as you did to my post (below). You do not offer "friendly advice", as I see it, but rather commands. I fail to read anger into my post above, simply factual impressions. You see me "bringing issues". Come on, now! I simply reiterate things I've seen elsewhere, hoping they are not similar here, and you come up with your advice. Let's hope others can understand better my meaning, or unless I'm totally feeble, I'd better throw in the towel. I had truly hoped this sort of badgering was not to be found here. Peace. imp

Retired Air Force Pilot/Airline Pilot. Then Nursing Home Administrator, past 10 years. Glad to be free of the pressures.

Hi imp and welcome. Just curious, but what airline did you fly for? I am also a retired airline pilot from United-Continental with no military flight time. What planes did you fly in the Air Force?

Thanks, much, oldman! I am one of those, too! Just wonder if there are non-old-timers as members also. Anyhow, I talk too much! I am in answer to your question, far from being a "flyer"! Just love airplanes, that began with postcard-sized trading cards bought as a kid. I had the "flying wing", B-36, Chance-Vought F4-U (?), etc. Have dreamed of building a plane someday myself, but time just slips away............imp

Edit: 2nd. attempt, 1st. Edit failed. Sorry I so misleadingly used Mr. Skyking's occupation quote in my post above yours. He is the Air Force guy, not I. I tend to talk too much! imp

Gosh, I am amazed, having had no idea the forum had a large world-wide membership! If not already in existence, a thread exchanging tales of folks' geographical locations might be worthwhile! imp
