Retired firefighter arrested for threatening to kidnap, kill Wichita mayor over city’s mask ordinance

A retired firefighter who was upset with Wichita’s mask ordinance was arrested on suspicion of threatening to kidnap and kill the mayor of Kansas’ largest city, authorities said.

Police said the 59-year-old suspect who was arrested Friday could face a charge of criminal threat, the Wichita Eagle reported.

Well he's old enough that he should know better!! This goes under the category WTH is WRONG with people! The problem with these types of things is that lunatic copy cats will try to emulate this behavior when a public official makes them angry. And if you notice, the plan to kidnap and kill the Michigan governor was not admonished at all by one of the main people who should have spoken out against it. That, to me will encourage other fanatics to try it.

I know it's hard to keep your beard and wear a mask, and he wanted to be a hero, but why not just get drunk and fall asleep like everyone else. I doubt he considered how messy it is to kill someone. Cops across the country should hold public seminars about it. Most of these would-be outlaws might see how difficult and frustrating kidnapping and murder can be and give up before they think about that crap.

I can think of no greater reason to kidnap and murder someone that being told to wear a mask. What's next zip up our zippers?!

Why, yes! True story...

Back in the late 80s, I was writing software tools for our field service people around the world, since that (at the time) was one of our largest sources of revenue. I occasionally would be asked to teach a class if I had a new service package being released. Classes were given regularly, but taught by people whose job it was to teach such classes, so for me it was only an occasional thing. The lights were out as I had the laptop displayed on a screen via a projector. When I finished walking through the software and the lights came on, everybody was laughing. I couldn't figure out why until one guy from Germany pointed at my pants. Sure enough - wide open. I quickly zipped up and we moved on.

These things do happen. If I were masked, maybe it might have at least been somewhat less embarrassing with a sense of being anonymous behind the mask. :ROFLMAO: 😉

One day, @tbeltrans, we should speak only in song.🙃

I used to work with a guy who seemed to come up with a song for everything. He used to sing in choirs and choral groups, so he was quite good. It was strangely humorous to be in a meeting with "suits" and suddenly he would break out in a song triggered by something somebody said. There are many things said in these forums that seem ideal for that too. With youtube being so plentiful with the perfect song for the situation, who can resist?

The entire soundtrack album is on youtube. I am not sure how to post the URL without it being translated into the first video, but you can get to it:

1. Right click on the video here and select to copy the URL.
2. Open a new TAB and paste the URL into it to take you directly to youtube and the list

Here is the first tune in the playlist:

It sounds quite good. I never saw the show because we never got into the whole vampire thing. I didn't understand what that whole thing was about. Suddenly, we kept hearing about vampires and then after some period of time, it all died away (pardon the pun). Regardless, I am sure that this particular series was probably pretty good if they had this kind of music in it. :)

Thank you Tony. Buffy was a great show, really worth it. Very unique and fun. I watched it because my son did. He always turns me on to great things and keeps me up-to-date and current.

Well, this idea of a happy time, when we all sang songs by fire light, as we all hugged each other, never existed. Humans are a contentious lot. We could come up with a plan that everyone got a $billion, but some would be dead set against it, and would take up arms to prevent it. The same thread runs through people with the anti- immunization of their children. This is the "fake" moon landing crowd- the flat earthers, the "you name it" conspiracy crowd, the anti-scientific sort. I'm not sure what fuels their beliefs, but those beliefs have been with us since the dawn. And while most wonder why they believe as they do, they do.
