The bird we call a Robin, in the USA, is a member of the thrush family.

The bird called a Robin, in the u.k. ,
it's an entirely different Family....flycatchers,I think.
I was thinking the one in the U.K. looked smaller a bit daintier or fragile than ours does.
Ours has to be a strong one to live through all that migrating I am sure.

When I was in Illinois I had one that I know returned to my house for 3 years.
I would be out weeding my flower beds and she would come about a foot away from me
and follow me through the beds as I cleared and section and grab the worms and bugs I
dug up. Only the one would do it. Then one year none did, so I guess she didn't make it that year.

Robins year round here… some just don’t leave!
That's true! Some don't.
They're sometimes just less noticeable and visible to people, in winter, unless there's a group of them.
Is that how you see them in PA?

In winter, the ones who don't migrate South, have to change their habits and their diets, while they can't pull worms from the ground. Therefore, people don't see them and assume they've left.

Either way it's a sign of Spring, when we see them foraging on the ground. :)
