Rolf Harris sentenced

Disgraced Australian entertainer Rolf Harris has been sentenced to five years and nine months in jail for indecently assaulting four girls in the UK between 1968 and 1986.

Seems a long sentence for 84 year old for indecent assault.Was there sex involved?
"4 girls between 1968 to 1986 "...Im a little puzzled by that statement, that's almost 20 years.
 
The nasty paedophile would have been sent down for much longer if the offences had been carried out more recently. He ruined quite a few lives. He had sex with one of the girls from the age of 13! Paedophiles are usually detested by other prisoners, so each day he spends in prison will probably feel like an eternity and serve the pervert right!:mad:

If he had actually sex with any of these girls then he should be giving a pill to relax himself like a poison one.
 
He should have got at least two years for each
of the twelve guilty verdicts.

Th Judge Advocate is looking into the leniency
of the sentence, so It will probably go up, as it
should.

I do not know why they wait 20 years before going to the police.....20 hours would be too much

It is not all over yet though......more charges to come and he may spend the last breath in prison.
 
The authorities generally make it so public, and the children are already dealing with so much inner pain, that most children just can't deal with anymore. I wish we would find a more private way to handle this issue for the children's sake.
 
His case certainly received national coverage over here.

I hope the people involved can now receive some closure and get back to their everyday lives.

Unfortunately fame and fortune allows some people to behave as if they were above the law of the land.

The charges (12) only relate to events in Britain. Testimony from 'character' witnesses made it plain that over many years he groped and molested women and girls in Australia and New Zealand as well. The women were able to fend him off but the young teenagers were shocked and confused and often blamed themselves. Some tried to report him when they were older but got nowhere.

It is only now, after the scandals coming from the churches and individuals like Jimmy Savell are coming to light that authorities are prepared to charge people for interfering with women and girls without their consent. Predatory lechery is no longer safe for men. It was never very safe for women.
 
The unspeakable crimes of the evil pervert, Jimmy Savile, were well known for many years. I believe the first complaint about him was made as far back as 1959! He was one of the untouchables where prosecution was concerned, it would appear!:mad: It now seems as if Savile was the most prolific sex offender of all time. His victims have ranged in ages from 3 to 75, both male and female. It also seems that the dead were not spared either as when working in the many hospital in the UK he had access to the mortuaries as well! I wonder if sex with animals also featured on his list of depravity? He was a friend of Rolf Harris and they would visit Broadmoor the mental hospital together. Savile who was given the keys to this institution sexually abused the female patients, did Harris do so as well?

It would also appear that there was a paedophile ring in which some of our MPs were involved, the files on that have mysteriously gone missing. YE GODS where will it end?:mad:

No sentence is too long for this sort of man...he has ruined lives.

I really don't care how old he is...he has done wrong...he had hurt many people. I can't help feeling sorry for his poor wife though.
 
I feel sorry for his wife and his daughter but surely they must have had an inkling of what he was like.One of the victims was the best friend of his daughter. I believe there is a review of the leniency of his sentence going on now. I think more and more victims of abuse are coming forward now when they are being heard at last. Shame on those that knew about Jimmy Savile or any other pervert and did nothing about it.
 
Years ago, Rolf Harris was talking on the radio about his family, and how his wife, daughter, and himself liked to snuggle up in the same bed naked! I was shocked, as I thought it inappropriate for parents to be naked around their kids, and especially in such close proximity. However, it never occurred to me at the time that he might be a paedophile.
 
Thats an interesting read Zuzu... lots I never knew but then again he was always one performer I really didn`t take to,
and I do feel so sorry for his victims who will bear this emotional scar for the rest of their lives.. so glad its finally finished and
he has been sentenced and is in Jail he can`t hurt any one else for a while..
 
I don't think the Rolf Harris saga is finished, he could well be charged with other offences as more people come forward with sexual abuse claims.
