Running with the bulls

"Hypocrisy on the part of whom?"

Those folks, obviously, who decry the killing and abuse (assume killing IS abusive, yes?), of animals, in general, but accept as "normal and not abusive", the killing of animals in some other light. Hypocritical.

You either believe that "Killing and/or abusing animals", unconditionally, is unacceptable, or you do not. To "qualify" killing and/or abusing" based on abstract reasons, is hypocrisy.

Please be aware, I am not trying to argue against your point. We are both in agreement that the treatment of animals is of prime importance. Visit any slaughter-house, where animals are routinely killed, as I have, and then please return here with your concensus about the acceptability of that killing, versus some frivolous Spanish bull-killing. imp

Non-Spanish people needn't flock to this festival as tourists or participants.
The finger doesn't just point towards the Spaniards.

Who flocks there is rather immaterial, is it not? Now, you have introduced yet another factor into the equation: Control of the folks who flock to places you feel they should not. Now we are gathered into the directing of non-Spanish peoples' lives. What business do we, or anyone, have of considering control of folks' interests in general? imp

I wish practices like this and bull fighting would become a thing of the past. Animals are thinking feeling creatures ( although different from us ) but that doesn't give us the right to exploit them and hurt them for our entertainment the way we do. It really upsets me.

Oi! Who mentioned control?

I just feel we should have evolved past this level of cruelty and idiotic machismo.
I'd like people to abstain from attending bull fights, bear baiting, cock fighting and dog fights, and that's just for starters.
If there are no clients and customers, there's no reason to continue these barbaric events.
