San Francisco Walgreens Employees Fear For Safety Amid Aggressive Shoplifting

The longer this virus crisis lingers, the more the Scumbags will brazenly rob and loot. Given the number of idiots in our society, I expect that criminal activities will increase substantially in coming weeks and months. The police are being impacted by this virus, and that will also encourage these crooks. There may well be zones, in many of our major cities, where lawlessness runs wild.
Burglaries already up 75% in NYC

I want to know if thieves get caught stealing a necessity/emergency item would be there be extra charges on top of criminal theft. If those thieves hitting the drug stores steal something like sanitizer or masks shouldn't there be a criminal surcharge?

I don’t think so, people are desperate, out of work, out of money, and out of their minds. If no one is hurt, I think an expensive ticket would be enough, payable after the crisis. It is, after all, an extremely difficult time. Compassion is needed now more than ever.

I can see if it's the preverbial loaf of bread but of those seen in the footage were swiping shelves of stuff into bags. Emergency or not who needs or can use an entire shelf of what ever. Ticket or jail is one thing but maybe some of these place need to rethink the minimum amounts(too high in many places)

I would agree under the circumstances you said, they probably wanted to sell the stuff. But right now jail is pretty much impossible. Ticket now to keep track of them, jail later when the virus has run its course. Jailing someone could turn into a death sentence, a bit harsh for the crime.

This stuff has been going on long before the virus hit. We have been brain washed into accepting this behavior for a lot of reasons. Holding hands and singing kumbaya isn’t going to end it. Start arming the store workers.

So it's your opinion that minimum wage workers should defend the corporations that they work for with their LIVES?

🤪
Wish we were able to fully delete, so the icon will have to suffice. Actually, I had said nothing wrong, I had said "Thank you" but regretted saying anything, why, I don't know. So okay, whatever.

I agree to a point........The stores IMO should not "arm" the employees.....that makes it seem like it is part of the job, hence a requirement . But I do believe the employees should "be" armed/permitted to "be" armed..to defend themselves.

Sure, with the proper training and a clear understanding of the laws in their states.

Our next door neighbors have their daughter and grandchildren living with them. The 20 year grandson has a meth problem and has had some tangles with the law. Last week he stole another neighbor's car at 4 AM, found a bank statement in the car and was able to withdraw $1000 from his bank, wrecked the car about 2 miles from our neighborhood, and set it on fire.
The neighbor only had collision insurance on the car and is devastated. The burnt ruins have been towed to his front yard.
The grandson is in jail and this is his third felony.
Why did the bank give money out without proper I.D.? That $1000 will be covered by the bank, since someone didn't follow procedures.
